    Beat me to it OLM!

I think we should be going for an 8m+ striker. I know and understand we have a structure, but if it keeps us up, surely it's worth it?

    Can't see Celtic taking £4m

    12 in 30 in the 11/12 season.
Struggled with injuries last season but managed 4 in 14.

Apparently they're getting rid purely because of a new tight foreign players rule imposed by the Turkish FA.

If we landed both Hooper and Elmander for a combined fee of under £5m then I'd think that was pretty good going. The only worry of course is whether Hooper is actually worth that amount, he certainly has something to prove that's for sure.

That then leaves plenty of money to be left for improvements elsewhere (i.e. Schmeichel/Schwarzer, Figueroa/Davies, Ben Watson/McCann etc)

As I said on the general transfer goss thread, Norwich have bid £4m for a PSV striker so that must improve our chances of getting Hooper.

There's a suggestion on Twitter that the bid is actually £4.7m and it was lodged last night.

Hooper has only one year left on his contract and could sign for another club in January and walk away for free next summer. Dunno if Celtic will accept this bid. Our Chief Exec is a canny bugger and is good at getting best value for our players so I'd expect a bid of < £5m to be rejected.

Only thing with signing Hooper is, and I imagine he'd partner aluko, whenever I watch him he seems to drop back quite a bit to pick up the ball like all our other strikers do.

Not that I don't want him here, I'd ****ing love it if we signed him, just that we need a proper line-leader like fryatt does, always at the front.

Hooper's the lad from Scunthorpe isn't he, would be good and he'll know how massive we are.

Excellent news, hopefully Celtic will be tempted to accept and won't try holding us to ransom. For £4.7m they can easily get somebody in to replace him. Wonder if we'll offer Fryatt/McLean as part of the deal? Matty would smash that league wide open.

If Hooper still has ties to the Humber area then this could work to our advantage, this would be a 'blow your socks off' signing for me.

I don't know. Both are unproven at Premiership level but I have a feeling that they might both do ok.
