Aluko signed a two year deal when he arrived in July. At the end of this coming season his contract is up, why hasn't more been made of this? I'd say he was just as valuable as Chester, people might come in for him in January and we could lose him for nothing on a pre-contract; which given his potential and current ability would be a massive mistake.

Has his injury prevented him from getting a new deal? I'd have thought he'd be featuring a lot in the first team but I'm a bit concerned we'll lose him if we don't sort it out.

Never understand why manager's seem to leave it so late to review contract situations. For all we knew earlier on this season, we might not have got promoted and the likes of Rosenior and McShane may not even have wanted to sign new deals.

Personally I'd be looking at potential renewals (at least for key players) the second they hit the 18-month mark.

The lack of urgency suggests to me that there's possibly another year triggered automatically based on appearances, which he'll easily hit is he stays fit.

Or maybe been even after promotion? or would they have announced it?

Have they announced Faye's extension? That was a clause in his contract too.

I'd have thought they'd have given him a two year deal thinking that we'd achieve Promotion in two Seasons rather than one. Obviously then if we earned Promotion in the second year, we could sort out a new Contract for the Premier League.

But as you say, it'll probably be an appearance based trigger clause that Aluko would meet quite easily.

Brought it up many, many times on here and I disagree with you, he's far more important and difficult to replace than Chester.

If he has an extra year triggered by appearances, it wouldn't kick in until next season.

He hasnt played since November, we can't offer him PL contract based on appearance up till then. If he can stay fit then im sure we will. But, thats something to worry about closer to the time.

Relax. I dont see an issue with this at all yet. Just because nothing has been said or made public. Could be that SB has already got this sorted out verbally at least ? Fans need to sit back and enjoy the summer more. Aluko i suspect will get a new deal and well before January 2014.
