Very sad news that Sir Henry passed away this morning at Warren Place. Thoughts and prayers are wtih his family, friends and everyone at Warren Place.
Sad news to hear. Whatever happened away from racing he was no doubt a genius horse man and trainer. He will live long in most's memory through his connection with Frankel more so than others. May he RIP.
Absolutely. A genius of a trainer - my first real memory of flat racing was oh So Sharp doing the Triple Crown - and a true gentleman to boot. Thanks for the memories Sir Henry
A minute's silence will be held at each racecourse prior to racing this afternoon. In practical matters, a temporary licence has been granted to Lady Cecil to allow horses to continue running from Warren Place.
Most sad and distressing news. One of the Isle’s best and most loved trainers of all time. He achieved everything there was to achieve in Flat racing and I’m sure his like will never been seen again. R.I.P. Sir Henry. A true legend.
Only just saw the news. Shocked and very saddened. I echo all the tributes above. It's almost like he hung on to see out Frankel's career. He has gone in the knowledge that he achieved his dreams, and possibly more. RIP Sir Henry
Sad news, a superb trainer, horseman and gentleman. I fear just as with Frankel, his finest equine star, it may be a very very long time before we are blessed by his like once again.
very sad news RIP Sir Henry Although he was a great trainer for many years it is fitting that he saved his best training to last with the mighty Frankel.
I just read this and am totally gobsmacked. A true gentlemen who went about his business with style and panache. The images of him receiving the crowd's adulation after Frankel's victories will live long in the memory, as will a quite remarkable career spanning 4 decades and with untold big-race winners. Condolences to his family and friends, and indeed to anyone who has a passion for horse racing. Today we have lost one of the true Kings of the Sport Of Kings. RIP Sir Henry.
Some would say he was the best trainer of all time in terms of racehorses on the flat. I'm glad he got the chance to witness all of Frankel's career before he passed away. R.I.P. Sir Henry.
Really sad to hear this today, I wasnt around in his heyday so others will know more than me but was obviously a class act and one of the best trainers ever, done a great job with Frankel and deserved to end his career with one of the best horses ever.
A very rare man, one who treated the twin imposters - triumph and disaster - both the same. God, the universe, or whatever, must have really loved Henry to give him a gift like Frankel so close to the end.
It felt wrong not to pop on and add my thoughts today. A giant of the racing world. Frankel was a fitting final superstar. R.I.P
