I'm basing this purely on the performance at St Marys's, and we lumped it up for Samba to win 100% of our passes.
and didn't even get to vote on RB. I think that a vote should happen anyway as other people who may already have seen someone's name didn't bother re-posting the same name. This is like having auditions for BGT but not live shows ...... now there's an idea.
Carlos Cueller was a rock for Sunderland. Chris Samba was just a colossal at the back, probably his only good performance for QPR!
You have hit the nail on the head, we made him look unbeatable by playing to his strengths. We kept putting high balls into the box allowing him to use his height, didn't run at him at all, seemed reluctant to have a shot and to make it worse, Rickie seemed to actively seek him out at corners and free-kicks. Samba hardly had to move, whenever we were setting up for an attack Rickie would go and stand next to him.
This thread seems to be along the lines off, See what the first few people say and give a similar comment so it looks like your football knowledge is adequate and dont actually give your own opinion and lets be honest most of us dont really actually remember what cb's played extremely well against us. In contrast to that i thought Dawson both times this season
Wow, your assumptions are brilliant. I really wish I was as knowledgeable and excellent as you. Maybe, just maybe people have chosen players from the games that we failed to break teams down.... maybe, Sunderland at home, QPR at home, Everton, West Brom, etc, etc.... oh hang on a minute, that's where a lot of these players selected have come from. Oh and if I read back through the thread, I see people questioning other posters selections and not just copying or agreeing. Why do you always try to be so antagonistic and superior? There's no need.
Dawson didn't start the first game, he got subbed on in 90+ mins stoppage time to waste time. Gallas and Caulker were their centre backs at St Mary's. Samba didn't play the first game either. I can remember exactly how the two I nominated played in both games.
You don't show yourself in a particularly good light, though you probably don't care. I started to question myself this morning and thought maybe I am being wrong to be so antagonized by your posts. I also wondered if I was also wrong in having you mentally black-mark in my mind. This is only because I am a boring old man who does tend to give people the benefit of any doubt. So, I checked out that doubt. I have read back through a lot of your posts over the last 12 months and it seems that the alarm bell in my head was right. A large number of your posts have been abusive and unnecessarily aggressive and the session when you slated a 10 year old boys poetry was really enlightening towards your personality. I have one other question, which hopefully you will read this far into my post (even though it is boring), and it is this: why did you disappear from sometime in 2011 and return with a self-proclaimed "I'm back" announcement? What happened to all your previous posting history? In there were further damning posts that set the alarm for me in the first place. I'll stay a boring old man thanks, but at least I know I have the intellect to respond with some decency to posts from one who can't hold a decent discussion without being abusive.
It's not the end of the world really as this is just a bit of fun, but if someone for example says 'Vertonghen and either McAuley or Bassong', then I either have to just take Vertonghen, guess which one of the second two he wants or just let them have three nominations which defeats the point a bit. But it doesn't really matter at the end of the day, it's not as if we're doing anything particularly important. I get what you're saying FLT, just that when there's 17 nominations overall for 5 different players, and 10 of them go to one of them, seems a bit of a formality to put it to a vote. And considering we're going to be getting through at least 16 different threads for this, I'm very conscious that peoples interests may seriously wane towards the end and I'll end up getting 4 nominations per thread, so trying to balance trying to give people something interesting to ponder during silly season and not drawing out the process over too long a period. And if anyone's seeing the person they want to put forwards has already been nominated and not nomiating them then they are being quite foolish as the nominations are tallied so they all count! That said, if anyone else feels the same I'd be happy to put everything to a vote from here on out, no problemo.
Ivanovic for me - can't believe nobody's nominated him. Despite us beating them 2-1 at St Marys, he was a rock at the back. He was always there on the end of everything whether it was on the ground or in the air. A superb defender in my opinion, easily one of the best i've ever seen at St Marys. For the other nomination, i'd have to plump for Everton's Jagielka. Again, frustratingly, kept our strikers at bay!
Don't bother with him. As New Era rightly points out, Dawson basically only played the last 60 seconds of the home game.
