Never posted transfer gossip as i never here of any with any credit, But just heard from a good source we are in for a loan for Ryan Tunnicliffe, any you guys in the know heard off this?
Apparently we're in for Ebanks-Blake! http://savethemightyimps.wordpress....ce-show-ince-vaughan-pennant-blake-interest/?
I think we'll bring in 3 strikers, 4 maybe if Fryatt leaves. I'd imagine we'll spend decent cash on two of those (Rhodes and another). Someone one like Ebanks Blake would be a great squad player, proven in the Championship has played in the PL (didn't really score much), offers something different and on a free. We was interested in Jan and I can see this happening.
Why is Rhodes being linked so much? What's happened to the Austin story? I'd prefer him over Rhodes personally, also would prefer Vydra over both, whether a possibility or not I don't know, but he's not going back to Watford, maybe he'll be part of Udinese 1st team? I think Ebamks-Blake would be ok if he's fit, he's played PL & I reckon could still do a job as back up to 2 strikers, whether Aluko will be 1 of them or not, or maybe just behind. I think a lot of our current "strikers" are too much wanting to play, just behind.
"According to the Daily Mirror, Premier League new boys Hull City have opened negotiations with Birmingham over a possible deal for Curtis Davies. " 7.31am Cmon Mirror do keep up
Hope the Tunnicliffe rumours are tosh, Far better in the United Youth we could loan. http://www.redcafe.net/threads/ryan-tunnicliffe.321475/page-6
I think even Steve Bruce's desire to play his son will be overtaken by his common sense next Year. We'll only see Alex every now and again I reckon. Or else who's he getting in the team above? Faye? Chester? Davies? Figueroa?
I don't think we'll sign 4 strikers, that's a bit too many and they're probably the most expensive position to fill; your initial prediction of 3 is probably more accurate. We'll probably buy 2 goalscorers (such as your Rhodes, Hoopers and Austins) and then a back up journeyman type on a cheap deal (Kevin Davies would've been decent). We have Aluko, Proschwitz, Fryatt (who I think will stay, he's a decent goalscorer and hasn't had a crack at the PL yet, even if he's just a squad player we know how deadly Matty can be given the chance.) and with 3 incomings, that's six and plenty. Plus we have Boyd who can also play up there and as we saw on the last day, Robbie Brady can confidently fill in if needs be. I'm not sure where I stand on SEB, he's a decent goalscorer outside the top flight but as has been mentioned he's not exactly a PL hotshot. I'd rather have kept Simpson (who'd probably be cheaper) than have to sign up somebody who's just like him. Funnily enough, I'd heard that Simpson was courting the interest of Wolves. He'd be a beast in League 1.
I've got a feeling that our lack of interest in many/any Ashbee-type midfielders will see Alex Bruce in there.
Thing is, with Meyler, Evans, Quinn, Koren, Cairney, Faye and the probably inclusion of a couple more midfielders, I can't see it being much of an issue. There'll only ever be one Ashbee, but I think Ben Watson is probably the closest I've seen to him in terms of playing style.
I see Celtic are odds on to sign Carlton Cole. Surely that means Hopper is Premises bound, but will it be us? Personally I'd rather have Rhodes. Mbokani is a non starter if they want £10m plus for him.
I'd love for us to sign Ben Watson. I've always rated him and when Wigan signed him, I was surprised because I thought he'd been bound for more established Premier League Clubs. He will, as you say, be the closest to Ashbee that we've had for a long time.
