Bentley was a £15m signing for Tottenham from Blackburn in 2008, but he was an expensive flop in north London and has spent most of the last two seasons on loan at Russian side FK Rostov and Rovers. He leaves White Hart Lane along with William Gallas, who spent three seasons at Spurs after joining on a free transfer from rivals Arsenal, who have released Arshavin after four years at the club. Sebastien Squillaci is another to leave Arsenal, while Ivory Coast defender Kolo Toure will not feature in Manchester City's future plans and his move to Liverpool at the end of his contract was confirmed last month.
