I realize that a few key players were missing, but yet another dismal performance against Norway, losing 3-1 in a game they had to win. Is this the future of our national senior squad? England had a bright start in this game, but heads dropped after conceding the opening goal against the run of play.
I went to an under 21 game at Craven Cottage about 10 years ago, and was so unimpressed by the standard I haven't watched much since. All the really top players are moved into the senior squad and seem to skip the u21 stage. Seems a shame as it could be a good learning step, but doesn't seem to happen.
Norway achieved this result despite having four of their U21 players moved to the senior squad for World Cup qualification games.
It's bollocks! Most of these kids are already earning mega bucks & don't seem to give the u21 the respect it deserves. I represented my country at Junior, school boy & u21 in my chosen sport & loved every minute. Best of all it made my family(especially my farther) very proud. A lot of the players that have cried off may never get the chance at senior level & would of missed a very special/privileged opotunity!
