It was discussed when we were moving for a fullback, cannae remember the name but he was discussed as a very different type of player to Clyne and that the formation change would make sense if we brought him in. Not terribly specific I know but it was further back in the thread.

Jesus Gamez, old-fashioned Malaga RB who can play CB, Alan Nixon I believe suggested we may be after him because we want to play 3 at the back, but it wasn't worded very clearly.

I am not changing my username! Would make sense, I guess, as he's not getting in the 11, even though, personally, he's better than Jos. Could this mean that Forren is expected to make the step up?

I think Fonte had a bit of a raw deal, I thought once we got going until he got injured he was an absolute rock, I think that little period through the second half of November and then December he played the best any of our CBs have this season, although Yoshida was obviously the most consistent performer.

Personally I'd be happy with a new CB, Fonte, Yoshida and Forren, with poor old Jos the victim.

I don't think Fonte will go. Kept on as a squad player, maybe a loan. Mostly just because I can't see him dropping back to the Championship and I'm not sure there's a Premiership team who we'd sell to.

I can. I can see him back at Palace. TNLS doesn't ever provide any sources for his rumours, but they generally seem to be within the realm of possibility. I think we're really going to change it up a lot at the back, and Poch hasn't seemed to keen on Fonte though I'm not entirely sure why.

I was just talking to a County fan who was singing Bart's praises. Really wish we'd kept him on, have a feeling he might become a Premiership 'keeper yet.

Indeed, I can see Fonte going but rather he didn't. Kind of fits into the same category as Puncheon.

I think Fonte said that he came to us because we'd be in the PL before Palace would. He was right, only by a season though!

Well I think he has his good moments but also has his bad moments. He struggled when he came in for Davis in the Championship last season so there is nothing to suggest he will be a good prem keeper.

I've always thought Bialkowski was a great keeper. He got into a bit of a rut here and totally lost his confidence, but I saw enough of him at a young age to know he's got the talent. Let's not ever forget his performances during the run-in that season when we stormed up into the playoffs; the 0-6 win at Wolves being a particular highlight. He can definitely become a PL keeper with the right team.

A return to Portugal looks more likely than anyone in the prem. Dont expect us to sell any players to the teams around us

He's been fantastic for County last season with about 15-20 clean sheets. They're thinking of selling him to Championship teams to raise money to strengthen elsewhere.

Lest we forget, last season a League Two keeper moved to became a Premiership goalkeeper. And I'd rather have Bart than that fella...

Even if he does, I won't be upset with the decision to let him go. He was just short of 25, and wasn't really making a case for the number one role, and that was before Boruc came in. At that point, when you're potentially looking at him being out on loan until age 27 or later, it's better for everyone involved if he gets the chance to move on, hopefully establish himself somewhere and grow from there.

I wouldn't. Gazzaniga is a lot younger than Bialkowski and has more potential IMO.
