Bristol City have announced Simon Moore is their number 1 target to solve their goalkeeping problem. Come on Brucie, he'd be a cheap back up goalkeeper! He's way above the league he's in now!
Seems that we are getting linked with any player who expresses a wish to either come to, or return to, the Premier League. From HDM. quote: And that leads us nicely on to today's crazy Twitter chat. How about former Everton defender and Nigeria captain Joseph Yobo? He's currently with Fenerbahce but considering a move back to England with Hull in the frame. Apparently
If we need cover for the full back positions, would it be worth a cheeky bid to get Sam Ricketts back now that Dawson has gone? Sure he'd love another crack at the PL and still has the legs to be a solid performer. He's not a glamorous signing, so this will probably get panned by the younger fans, but you just know he'd do well and he was quality against us in our drubbing at their place.
Assuming we get Figeuroa, I don't think we need any more full-backs. If we play 352, we have Dudgeon and Brady on the left, Elmo and Rosie on the right. In a back 4, We have Figeuroa, Dudgeon and Brady to cover and Rosie, Elmo and McShane/Chester to cover. Although getting another fullback wouldn't hurt, I wouldn't want us to spend a limited budget on a position we're well covered in. And we'd need to sign one that's PL quality, and I doubt they'd come as 2nd/3rd choice.
It could well be a Friday ****up, but I've heard a little rumour (from the guy that showed me the transfer list at Christmas time) that Dinamo Zagreb's Brazilian-born Croatian playmaker Sammir is interesting Mr Bruce. Don't know much about him, but he should be facing Scotland tonight so be good to look at him. According to his wiki he scored 12 goals from midfield as Dinamo won the league by 20 points. On a side note, looking at the wiki page there, I notice Zagreb have Vrsajlko, who ALWAYS signs for Man U on Football Manager. Wonder if he's as good in real life?
Unlikely given a transfer to Birmingham fell through per Wikipedia:- "In July 2007, he was set to move to Birmingham City for a fee of £3 million (subject to work permit approval). However, on August 3, Birmingham announced they would not be completing the deal after Ghaly objected to the training methods employed by manager Steve Bruce."
In fact, on visiting King Fut site they are not saying that at all. What they are saying is that he (Hossam Ghaly) is saying that. Don't think they believe it either.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22817793 Similar links have been posted previously however, this is the list of premier league released players. Few interesting names on there.
Did anyone else hear Nick Thompson on Burnsys show this morning? I didn't hear it all but I did hear him say that he isn't expecting any new signings for a couple of weeks, though they are working on between 4 and 6 new players coming in. Also stated that we are very close to sorting out Chesters new contract.
Surprised no one, unless I've missed it, has mentioned Steve Harper, he had the quality to keep Shay Given out of the Newcastle side so surely he'd make a a good number two to Kasper
He starting on the left mid according to Sky, interestingly Rhodes is on the bench for Scotland and instead Leigh Griffiths is starting - he might be worth a punt had an excellent season in Scotland , and Wolves might be forced to sell cheap as the league they are now in (he might even be out of contract) Finally McGregor is also starting, good chance to look at him as haven't seem him for awhile, should really be tested against a quality team like Croatia - wonder if Bruce is watching?
How about, Ross Turnbull as our no2 keeper, Hitzlsperger or Gera?? On another note, its nice to see that DJ is without a club, shows what a short-termed individual he is
