Now I'm not the worlds best officiando, but I seem to have noticed this.

A couple of years ago the food world was going crazy opening Thia restaurants. It was the "in thing" to be seen in a thia and added cudos...

Now it appears to me that its gone to middle eastern / maroccan style food.

Am I correct or am I just an idiot..don't answer.

Personally, my favourites are west indian (as cooked by me) and love a bit of Sri Lankan (cue farflung)...

So all you brussel sprout posters, am I correct or just talking ****e as usual...?

I think the Thai restaurants craze was a good few years back. I remember going to one in Epsom when I was 10 in 1974!!

North African food seemed to become popular in the mid 90s.

Here in the US (Houston's one of the foodie capitals of the country, thank God!) it's either going Sushi or whole animal concept, where they try to throw as much of the animal onto the menu (and not by sticking the whole thing in a meat grinder!) Leads to some interesting dishes - I've seen Sherpa pancreas on the menu in one of our local restaurants. I resisted.

I meant sheep's pancreas, of course. Not Sherpa's.

Sushi Bars seem to be ten-a-penny in London these days, not my favourite. I love comfort food, good old-fashioned pies with mash and veg, spotted dick and custard, all the stuff they say is bad for you...

We can arrange a one way ticket to a country of your choice, if you wish<laugh> ............. but of course, we wouldn't want you to wander off.
Myself ................ hard to goes a past a cryovac seasoned grade 9, grain-fed rib eye fillet, aged about 18 months, well cooked yet melts in your mouth.
The Supa Butcher used to sell some top class meats but have gone down somewhat since they sold out.

My wife makes home made Ravioli pasta ( nice, soft and yellow ) combined with the home made sauce ( in the empty beer bottles and aged ) ............ any form of Italian food, perfection!
Again, it just melts in your month. We are blessed.

Thai and Japanese places are pretty popular here now as well. Having said that, they are also still fiercely protective of the traditional stuff too, so l'entrecote et frites (steak and chips) is probably the best meal I've had here.

    Goldie, forget that.

Go to mermaid beach & out on the route 1, find Calypso Cols Roti hut.

Get in there and have the chicken or curried mutton roti with potato. Let me know what you think of it.

I drive from brissie every other weekend, just to eat there. try it, I'll almost guarantee you'll like it. haven't met anyone yet who doesn't!

Enjoy. i'll be there next sat with my boys.
