  1. Its not what you will want to hear but the hardest thing I had to deal with was not being able to pick up or cuddle my two boys. Probably different for you with it being your leg though <ok>

What did the Dr say? <laugh>

In all seriousness, that's ****ing horrific <yikes> The worst I've done sports-wise is tear ligaments. That's ****ing painful, but nothing compared to what you've done. My advice would be to become a full time spectator from now on. Don't risk that again <ok> Get well soon.

    Ouch, feel for you mate.

I ruptured my groin when I was 18. Never been able to run full pelt since.

I don't feel like eating my dinner now.....

Sorry to hear that DR and get better soon though stick to the program etc. I ski a lot and have never calmed down where that's concerned but always know its only a bad turn/rut away!

Luckily footy wise never got injured badly, but only did school football and a couple of seasons after I left.

Did play subbuteo a lot as a nipper and wondering if the arthritis in my index finger is connected! And not being bitter because it was 40 odd years ago but sure my brother was cheating, he used to shake the goalkeeper side to side if I had a penalty and me mum or dad would have to break up the subsequent fight. And he used to "accidentally" stand on my football team sets a lot - thank god for araldite, but it did take a long time to go off in those days.

    Subbuteo vs fifa13 who'd have thought ...........

Anyhow I digress, get well soon and enjoy the time with the kids

Shame to hear, though if you go about your recovery correctly you may play again, albeit for the last 15 mins hear and there but it's still something!!!

I ruptured my right ACL, the main ligament behind the kneecap (Think Owen vs. Sweden WC '06, or Jimmy Bullard vs. Newcastle) had my patella grafted down the middle and stapled to the injury, never been right since, I can still play but it swells and It's caused adverse affects with my right ankle ligaments due to the way I walk now. So I can only play 20 mins or so before I'm limping.

Though you'll get used to not playing during the recovery, It's easier than you think.

    Some great replies lads

Sorry to all those that have just read while eating their dinner

Gerrez, not had a **** all week, these tablets can make you bunged up. Wanted a big mac! <laugh>

When I came round from op I accused the nurses of being Wigan players (thery were in blue) I thought I was in Sainsburys and couldnt recognise anyone. When I was sedated not long after I'd done it is just too weird to explain, it was like I wasnt in my body, was just so surreal, just cant put it into words. God knows what they did to me but it took away shock and pain and allowed them to plaster cast my leg up

I had to wait for op as they wanted to investigate the lump more before diving straight in but only a for a few hours as the op had to be urgently done

I can hold my baby when im sat but she likes me to walk around with her which I obv cant do

RHC - Mate, you didnt need to be a qualified doc to know id shattered my leg here, the evidence was all in plain sight! <laugh>

THEAMERICANCONNECTION - Great story about Subbuteo! <laugh>. Financial pressure wont be there thank God as worj are really sympathetic, been really worried texting and ringing and they will come out to set me up to work from home (im bit of a golden boy at work )

Not stat sick pay rubbish they still going to give my salary which will be greatly received

Pulling out of a tackle in football and breaking from a ruck in rugby... Standing foot studs stuck in ground, body moved with enough force to tear the hip flexor muscle and with it the bone! I have lumps of hipbone floating in cartilage on each side now!

Can't even begin to imagine the pain you must be in... I had a week of strong painkillers, crutches for a bit longer and then a much longer period of being unable to move my legs properly, which was very very annoying. Did both on separate occasions haha... No luck.

What you've done is infinitely worse though! Must be sickening to imagine a tackle or kicking a ball right now.

DR - horrific mate. Can't begin to imagine even looking at that. The Dave Busst pics send me queasy enough!
Good luck with your rehab - stick with the programme, and if you have any doubts about the quality of the advice and support you're getting, be sure to ask for a second opinion.<ok>

My injuries from sport are far less spectacular, more wear and tear than sudden - my knees are pretty shot through and my hips hurt after a heavy day in the garden, but I've been pretty lucky. Worst injuries I've had are knee damage/torn cartlidge treated by physio, and a back injury from slipping on a wet night club staircase. Had to play cricket the next day dosed up on painkillers. I've never been able to take NSAIDs since then...

Bad luck DR, bad luck indeed, wish you a speedy recovery mate.

You must have some bloomin hulk-like leg muscles mate, that's where most of the pressure on the bones comes from.

I'm lucky, never broke a bone ever so far, fingers crossed.

I have a bad idea that this may start the "horrendous injuries" thread, Cisse, Larsson, Busst etc...

Was the game abandoned DR? Or did they cart you off and carry on, pretending it never happened?

Reminds me of evenings in Rosie O'Gradys, Flannigans, then off to the Krazyhouse and perhaps the Raz...

  18. Bar feeling a bit sicky, I was absolutely fine when I came round. They actually got me some water and within two minutes of waking up I was sat up talking to them <ok>

Loved the four Tramadols a day afterwards (along with two other tablets and three big injections of every six hours) but my body got used to them within two or three days. They numb the body which, in a way, isolates the painful area as that's all you can feel but to a lesser degree of course.

I'll play the daft American here, so ou broke both without someone tackling you? Was it similar to the Louisville Basketball player? ( It ison Youtube, jumped up, landed and his whole leg basically collapsed, something about might have aready had a hairline fracture and didn't know it, etc).

Gruesome though mate, hope the pain is getting better. Get yourself some good old fashioned american budweiser!

Belfast red - Ouch, your sounds painful mate

    "
What you've done is infinitely worse though! Must be sickening to imagine a tackle or kicking a ball right now" It does feel like that at the min. When i hear the sound again in my head it makes me feel instantly sick

St John - Yeah those Busst pics made me feel queasy and the Cisse and Eduardo ones as well. When I held my own leg like that I just wanted to be put out my misery!

Sisu - Dont know about Hulk muscles mate, my leg is an array of colours though. Yellow, green, bruising etc. Ive got bruses all over hands and arms form all the different drips and needles and that they were sticking me with

Superredriper - Game abandend mate, a couple of them nearly threw up. My teammates held my leg, gave me water, talked to me, rung my wife stopped me from passing out. The other team made a sharp exit!

RHC - I want some of thise vapourisers!

Gerrez - I always talk bollocks when under the influence of narcotics. Whenever I have chemicals im well known for it <laugh>

Bluff City Red - My missus got me some bud in mate for when I got bk lastnight and i had some but prob is I cant enjoy to many as when I use my crutches if im too unsteady, cant risk it

Yeah broke both tib and fib in my left shin by spinning with the ball on my right and the left was my standing leg.

I typed in Louisville Netball player but cant see anything mate? ;)
