I have it on good authority that Shearer will start to get the required coaching badges needed to manage, would you like to see him as your manager in the future?

He already has most, if not all of the badges.

I see no reason to think he would be a good manager for us, or for that matter that he would be a bad one. His eight game stint didn't prove anything one way or the other.

Let him cut his teeth at Leeds or Hartlepool. If he does well, then of course he would be especially welcome for all the memories, but I wouldn't hire him on the basis of warm and fuzzy feelings.

And I can't see him working with Ashley.

He is making more money as a TV pundit than managing a football team .

Not until he's managed 2-3 other clubs and has become a proven reliable manager.

He's a legend but I don't want him to be manager of this club without experience.

He's doing an Elite Coaching Badge next week so he must be looking at managing sometime in the future. Perhaps he's ready to give up his comfy TV role and get some work done.

I'll put my head on the block and say I'd be happy to have big Al as manager.

He'd be a 1,000 times better than Pards for his passion alone.

That plus he knows more about football than the stuffed tailors dummy will ever know.

Apart from the rift with Joey Barton after Barton's crazy tackle on Alonso and also playing Barton in the number 10 role, Shearer didn't do too badly with preparation, tactics and motivation. He just failed to get the likes of Michael Owen, Mark Viduka and Joey Barton to dig in when it got tough. We looked good at Boro though before that dreadful day at Villa Park. All in all I'd say the best education would be for him to assist a Prem manager before taking the role himself, like Steve Clark has done.

Jury out on Shearer, not enough evidence to go on. Certainly understood the game well enough as a player. If he went and learnt the trade down the leagues, showed himself capable then I'd welcome him. Quite happy with Pards though.

I am not sure why Shearer; I would rather look at someone like Beardsley.

Beardley was a great player and he's a really nice guy. A great natural thinker on the field but not so good off it.

Still prefer Shearer. He's got a genuine love for the Toon, whereas Pards is only here for the cash.

Perhaps Shearer can become a Coach or Assistant for now.

He had talks with Cardiff a while back didn't he, so he must have at least considered starting in the lower leagues
