Hi all, haven't been on here but I'm going to my first live GP at Silverstone later this month. I was wondering if you guys have any tips on where to sit/how early to get there or any other things a first-time visitor to a Grand Prix should know? I'm going to go for a General Admission ticket (because I'm a tight bastard!), and probably camping, so if any of you could let me know it would be a lot of help!
Depends when you're getting there but the earlier the better, as for when you leave I'm there till we're basically chucked off the circuit as that avoids the worst of traffic on the way out. Potentially around luffeild although I've not been there myself since they altered the circuit. Copse can be interesting and around becketts you can get very close to the track. Unless the GA is to low to see over the centre of the hairpin I'd say the end of Luffeild would be the best?
if you are going GA for a weekend then the stands are free on Friday for sat and sunday ive usually been around maggots but that's just the company I keep
I'm going to a GP I never thought I would go to, Hungary! Its a bit of a strange one to go and see but it would be rude to say no when work sends you so close at just the right time
The official campsite is pretty cramped imo, they do have pretty good entertainment at night though. I went to silverstone golf club (just across the dadford road) and from what I heard they dealt with the conditions the best. http://www.silverstonecampsites.co.uk/ourshop/cat_296502-F1-Grand-Prix-Camping.html
ha ha that's true! I once had to squeeze my 2-3 man tent between 2 giant motor homes! they did invite us to their BBQ though... show offs
Surprisingly, I was actually toying with that one for a while recently too. It's Budapest, Spa or Monza for me, just need to get the guy I'm supposed to be going with to make the right decision.
