As I said, I deliberately avoided putting up the main title from WoL in the hope we could talk about team effort as opposed to individual effort (although the book is obviously on topic). Now there is a poster on here who spouts about keeping to the topic and then blatantly tries to uproot the topic by not mentioning it at all, hypocrite, nothing but a small-minded hypocrite. Dai, I take your point and have to agree, a good title will sell more books, but for Cardiff fans it's an interesting take on some of the things that happened, especially under Jones.
"Oh dear - they're off again... yet to kick in a ball in the Premier league and now Cardiff Cty are apparently one of the biggest teams on the planet! The harsh reality is they've been talking about how big a club they are all my life - I'm nearly 50 - yet I still don't know where they get this idea from? But these statements by Bellamy are largely meaningless, it's understandable , he's a Cardiff boy , and although Swansea have had some pretty major ups and downs in recent times , during the last four decades Cardiff have still spent plenty of time in Swansea's footballing shadow. It seems Swansea's whole ethos - its team and supporters - know who they are and where come from. Unlike Cardiff , Swansea have not sold their souls for a shot at the big time -they are still 'The Swans' and they still play in White! They have developed their club, cut their cloth according to their size and status and have gone from strength to strength - Cardiff need to quickly get over their delusions of grandeur if they are ever to succeed." That's the best bit of the Article...............
just of interest dragon does that include the administration, or is that airbrushed out of the history books?
Swamp, how very dare you bring up the past when you know the Swans would never do so, oh the shame of it all!
We haven't changed our name though, unlike Swansea town FC (Swansea City have only been around since 1969), so we haven't completely sold our soul, just loaned it out for a while. If you change the name of your club than you are not that same club anymore.
Swamp#! One (in fact rather major) adjustment to your post. it is AdministrationS. Everyone wishes to forget 2002 and CERTAAINOY wishes to forget the same incident ten years earlier.....but now we are digging up history....and apparently only our history is at issue.....we are accused of selling ours...SCFC gave theirs away twice.
Most of what is said is , it's strange you pick up on this to say so though! Especially since you didn't want to get involved.
Only because it is blantantly untrue - hence a load of billy bollocks - so just constructive criticism
Glam - you've seemed to be a reasonable poster in the recent past, so don't spoil it now. I must be missing something here - or maybe it was you missing the first page of the thread. Try reading it first and see how it's developed from a discussion thread into another free for all before you make such a one sided comment. The "billy bollocks" all emanated from some of your ilk, so stop giving it large when one or two of OUR posters answer back. Some of the visitors from your neck of the woods are displaying a noticeable degree of insecurity when they comment on the headline of the article rather than the content. In other words - quite a few of you are ****ting bricks that Cardiff City FC in the Premier League will push you lot back into the shadows. Whether that happens or not is for the future - we are just glad to be there, whereas many of you down there are equally pissed off that we actually made it.
You seem to have trouble with truth, blatant or otherwise. 1. The club was called Swansea town, thats a truth 2. Swansea town became Swansea city, thats a truth It is my opinion if you change the name that it isn't the same club anymore, this is an opinion that is not an untruth. You believe what you posted was constructive criticism, I believe it's billy bollocks without a shred of constructiveness about it. Both are opinions and neither an untruth. Of course, if you are limited to saying billy bollocks to anything you disagree with, then I fully understand where you're coming from.
Sparkey I iike to think I am reasonable (the wife mught disagree though ) apologies for any offence caused but my critical comment was purely a response on the comment that the 1969 change of name due to the granting of City status meant that there had been a selling of the soul and therefore it wasnt the same club anymore - I wast sure what that had to do with the thread but I disagreed with it.
Fair comment Glamexile! It was response to Dragonphills comment above that we had sold our soul, if you have a quick read through his post you will see that. Unfortunately, comments like his are the norm from certain Jacks, and I respond kind.
No offence taken Glam - just tend to get a bit pissed off when "reasonable" posters like you take up the cudgels when we're only responding to others from down there that instigate the problems. Hoping for a great season ahead, and am looking forward to plenty of chat with you lot and visitors from the other Prem Clubs. Let's not stop the sharp banter with an edge between us - it wouldn't be the same with just back-patting going on - but let's see if we can all avoid the personal stuff that gets thrown about and destroys decent threads.
I can vouch for Glamexile, he's one of the good guys, he will defend his team through thick & thin but always fair, likes a bit of banter but stays away from mud slinging. In all a decent chap. Hope to see you down Glamorgan soon.
Of course he hasn't. KJ just goes off...never reads anything others say...he isn't going to change now.
