Okay there endeth another saga. He has signed a 4 year deal and promised Kenwright Champions League football. Good luck with that Roberto. From our point of view it puts to bed the source of a number of comments from our friends in the west stating, no hoping, that Malky would get the job and leave us in the lurch. Sorry guys, Martinez was always the favourite and despite all the newspaper, bookies and Jack talk Malky remains our manager (the best we have had in the living memory of most) and continues his preparations for the new season. We know it will be tough and to finish anywhere above 14/15th place will be a bonus. However, we have much excitement, thrills and spills to look forward to. So, lets get on with that and concentrate our thoughts on the speculation as to who Malky will bring in and, maybe, who might leave before the start of the season. Those released have gone and best of luck to them but it wouldn't surprise me if the right offer would prise one or two fringe players from us and free up more capital for additional new arrivals. I can't wait to see what happens over the next few weeks.
I wouldn't talk too soon because Wigan now need a manager. Rumour has it they want Bruce at Hull, if they don't get him then anythings possible
I know this is classed as the silly season and some garbage has been written on here but this is the best of the lot
I think Martinez will do very well now he has a decent size club...he is very talented manager, well he must be with all the bigger clubs linked with his name when they require a manager. He is a decent guy and will go far as a manager imo..
I don't rate him and think he'll take Everton backwards. Will he have a much bigger budget than he had at Wigan?
Dai, I agree with you I just feel that his management of expectations by promising Champions League is a little ambitious. Had Malky gone to Everton I would have been delighted to see Martinez at Cardiff. As for Wigan interesting Malky, why? Get a club with a good support base to the Prem and then jump ship back to a lesser supported Championship club, recently relegated and likely to lose its best players - I fail to see the logic in that. Similarly why would Bruce leave Hull to go back to the Championship? Dave Whelan appears to be a pretty supportive Chairman but that would be the only attraction. I assume that was a pretty poor attempt at a WUM. Please go back to trying to manage Clouseau - and failing.
Yes, talk now that ML is unhappy with the lack of funds, Huw will be made up to get £1.50 compensation.
I suggest you look at what debts clubs in the premier league actually carry. We are right down the bottom end of that list. 80 mil is nothing these days especially once you have the Premier league finances. Aston Villa 122 mil Chelsea 878 mil Fulham 193 mil Newcastle 129 mil Sunderland 84 mil Arsenal 98 mil etc...etc... In fact most clubs carry debt far higher than this without batting an eyelid because they have the assets and income to cover it.
Siam, the debt is not such a big issue given VT is looking to float on the KL stock market. Once a deal is settled with Langston his investment will be converted to equity. This will effectively clear debt. Now we're in the premier league he will need to invest further in player acquisition but I suspect the 25 million earmarked for this is already included in the aforementioned debt although not 100% sure on that one.
Swans board took £2,000,000. Brian Katzen, another original shareholder, owns 20%, having paid in £200,000, so will be paid £400,000. Double your money, not bad and they are doing it for the club http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/apr/08/swansea-halo-owners-windfall Seems I got the 7p in the £ wrong... Guardian say 5p
DJ! DJ1! DJ! I am really ashamed of you for bringing up this HISTORY. it's 10 years ago for goodness sake!!!!! Our neighbours will be extremely shaken by this and asking why, oh why do you do it. (These are the same dicks that bring up CCFC fans behaviour from 20/30/49 years ago, of course.) Heaven forbid we might mention the previous CVA too.....how much unsecured credit went by the way that time too? I don't have the details but it must be a matter of public record somewhere. The administrator was a small accountancy firm from Swansea. I met the guy and he remembers crapping himself one Monday morning when he had to tell John Bond he was sacked and would not let him through the gate at the vetch.
Frankfurter, My wrist is slapped ! Be honest I don't like bringing history up but some of these Swans posters ask for it. I apologise fully to those emotional souls who are upset.
Come on DJR, Surely you realise that most of the (jack) fans were man utd / Liverpool / arsenal fans up until about 4 yrs ago. Their History of Swansea started when they got into the championship
