La liga is a great league, and I am a big fan of it as I support Real sociedad, but one thing that really lets the league down is the away support. Why aren't fans travelling in big numbers to support their side away from home? Awaydays are massive here in England and for some reason it is just not in Spain?

Deportivo fan here, so as we speak, your crowd appear to be sending mine into la segunda. I've lived here for twenty years now, and the tale I'm always told is the distances involved. The fans do travel, depending on the importance of the match, but not a lot. I saw Deportivo win against Espanyol here in Barcelona a few years back, and there were about forty of us in the crowd, most of whom were exiled Gallegos.
I also think there is'nt the tradition in Spain that we've got at home (and at the momento, not many people here have got the money to travel from Euskadi to Andalusia for a football match, particularly when if you live in the town where your team play, a lot of bars will have the match on live anyway.

I go to Malaga sometimes. There is rarely more than 50 away fans. It's just not fashionable.

There's a simple reason why: it's a massive country to travel around too, certainly compared to England. With late kick off times, many matches often finish near midnight, people just can't get home, especially on a Sunday.

Malaga are one of the few teams who have a decent away following. This is an English influence. Most of the Malaga travelling support are English ex-pats who arrange their own coaches.

My team la real did take 2000 I think it was to Rayo but it is very rarely we see this happen. I think it is a real shame as it would boost the atmosphere up to what is already a great league.

It is a shame. But unless more games are played on Saturday afternoon then it will always be too difficult to travel. Trains are so expensive and public transport/traffic in most cities terrible. The motorway expansion is excellent but it is still far too far to drive if the match finishes so late.

Parking at La Rosaleda is nuts. It's best to pay a little to the crazy man who has the yard near the river. He squeezes the cars in so tight I've had to climb out of the roof before, lucky it was a convertible jeep at the time!

Is there any la liga forums like this? But that is just la liga and posts are made daily?
