Hope this is indeed camel ****.

Newcastle United will let versatile James Perch go - to make way for new foreign signings.

Boss Alan Pardew has decided that Perch, who played several roles for him, can be sacrificed in the summer sales.

Perch joined the Toon from Nottingham Forest and is one of the few English players left in the first team squad after their French revolution. Now Newcastle will allow Perch to move on.

Pardew’s scouting network has identified more signings for the summer and are expected to land up to three new French players.

Saw this and would be upset to lose him, he is a useful squad player.

Would understand if he wanted to go to get first team football though.

Can't see the point. He is the type of utility player a squad needs. Not on massive wages, and fully committed. Just seems a bit pointless? Just dispose of the sub standard ones like Obertan, Gosling, Shola, Willo to make room.

Saw Perchie playing for Forest when they beat us down at the City ground and he stood out a mile.

    He had a brilliant game.

May have taken him a bit of time to settle in with us, but he's been solid when he has played.

I get the feeling this summer is going to be fckin horrible. I understand fully now why Pardew kept his job.

No quotes attributed to the story, bit of a non starter for me. We'd get no more than 4-5 million for Perch and that's being generous, plus he's on small wages and can cover 5 positions. Just can't see him being sold. As already stated the players to dispense of are Williamson, Gosling, Obertan & Shola.

Why do people expect this summer to be horrible ?

Last summer was a mistake and everyone at the club says so. January was excellent (unless we've decided that we have ingested toxic amounts of frenchness and corrupted our true blue british whateverthehellitis).

So far we are barely into the window and have no news worth mentioning as to signings. What is the source of all this negativity ?

It sounds like Bullshit. Pardew will know as well as anyone that a number of home grown players are required by PL rules. Getting rid of Perch for more foreigners is ******ed

Doubt Perch will be sold now that Raylor is out all next year. Every club needs a few dependable utility players. Perch fits the bill perfectly.

Just seems to be the popular theme at present. I hope we don't carry this negative atmosphere into next year as it will serve no purpose.

Well, rightly or wrongly we all got on the "right, season was crap, but the board must've learnt from its' mistakes...." and so on. We all conveniently forgot that this board runs the club fiscally, so takes all business Jan-Dec into account. i've argued as much before, that we're actually a Jan transfer window club 'cos that's when the bargains can be snaffled, so I'm a proper muggins for joining in with the "ooh, let's get Scott Sinclair" cries. So what happened is we all thought it'd be 4 or 5 minimum through the door THIS SUMMER - then when articles appear claiming one or two maximum, I'm afraid it creates negativity. Arguably, it's supposed to, it's sensationalist - it's not Sept 1st and there's no direct quotes. But we have seen this before more or less every year, being let down in transfer windows, so we're not just basing negative feeling on hearsay or rumour.

It leads to joining the dots - why stick by Pardew? Oh, yeah - because everyone knows we need about 4 players, but this guy's the only one who'll bend over and take whatever rod he's supposed to. So if Ashley says 2, and no more, then Pardew just bows and mumbles "yessss, masser. Shine yo' shoes fo' you, masser?" All of which creates an unfounded but feasible feeling of being let down. The icing on this particular mud cake is Llambias' promise of "affordable football". Ambition, it would seem, is taboo at NUFC.

What's the average ST price increase this season?

It is June 3rd. Far too early to panic or get into a depressed negative state. Its incredibly naïve to read too much into a rag piece touching on emotive issues to sell a few chip wrappers. Fair enough discuss but don't try and tell me this **** is gospel. We have significantly strengthened the squad over the last few windows. We have had one bad window when we didn't enough. Where is the big drama? That we aren't competing with the likes of Man U etc? I think a few people have been spoilt and forgotten we were in the fizzy pop a few seasons ago. They have brought us a long way in a short period of time. We have a good squad that needs a bit of tweaking, 4 in 4 out would be ideal. It might not happen but as long as we continue to take steps forward its fine with me.

We took a good few steps back last season which was very disappointing but we've had worse times. Hopefully we'll get back on track and I'm quite prepared to wait and see how the summer unfolds rather looking for the razors to cut my wrists on June 3rd <laugh>

I think the summer window (start of the season just gone) and the selling of Carroll (January window few years back) stick in peoples mind. I accept that it's ridiculously early to panic as the season has barely finished. I do however get why people are concerned about this summer, it's a make or break window for us in my opinion. Do the right business and were are going to be top eight, have a bad window and it'll be bottom half.

It's not about people being spoilt for me, we are a very big club and our minimum ambition should be a top 8 finish every season. We should set high targets and if we fall just short of them we'll still succeed <ok>

I do agree though that the time to moan about lack of signings is mid-late August and not June 3rd <ok>

Big club in some ways but not in all areas.

Carroll was a great move for the club. I thought it was mad at the time but they were right. Last summer was a big error and we paid a heavy price. Overall though the quality in the squad has gone up. They have maybe seen a few flaws in their approach in that they haven't got the balance of the squad right and a little bit of character is missing. Lets see how they get on putting that right by mid August. We'd all love to be Man U etc and have our business done by June 30th but only the big guns really have that luxury bar a few exceptions. If you are having a big overhaul then maybe you will do it early but if you are tweaking, you'll probably have to wait because quality will mean you have plenty of competition.

Again I agree in general. However our transfer activity under this regime is a "one in, one out process". Out went Carroll, Nolan, Barton & Enrique and in came Ba, Santon, Cabaye & Cisse.

Out went Guthrie, Best, Lovenkrands etc and in came Anita & Bigi.

Only excpetion to the rule is the January window just gone, but even then we lost a striker and didn't replace him which is why I understand people being apprehensive/nervous about this window. We need MA & DL to provide us with more than just like for like. Yeah it's fine if we lose Williamson, Gosling, Obertan etc as long as they are replaced with real quality. I mean I know it's only paper talk, but apparently we are after Wanyama but only if Tiote goes, why not just sign him anyway to provide healthy competition for places which will mean we'd never have to see Jonas play as a DM again???

People are worried about this window based on past experiences which is understandable, we need more from our owner in this window than he's given us in previous years and some people are expecting to be underwhelmed once deadline day has passed. Only time will tell if they are right to feel how they do at present.

As you say, only time will tell. No good worrying what may or may not be, we'll know for certain soon enough.

The only certain thing is that we'll all be there again next season.
