According to the Chronicle we are targetting Wanyama. Interesting to hear this hot on the heels of news of Russian interest in Tiote.

Going on Cheick's performances of the last two seasons this wouldn't be a bad move. Should be able to get Wanyama and have some £millions left over from any sale of Tiote to invest elsewhere.

Have heard that other clubs have been priced out of a move for Wanyama.
Not really seen him play but surely a risk coming from a no competition league?!

Would love it if this came off. Perfect replacement for Tiote. Young, energetic, great defensive player.

I would just imagine him and Sissoko at the back! So much physical harassment of the opposition.

He'd cost in excess of £10m. Not worth that sum at all. Get in British talent, quite frankly I'm tired of average foreigners and even great foreigners with limited heart and no spine.

You'll not get any English player a fraction as good as Wanyama for less than £15m. He's like a much, much better Tiote and is a player that never lacks passion or commitment but doesn't play like a total moron.

For those reasons he will end up somewhere much better than us.

So had all of the Celtic team - lets go and buy the rest of them!
Didn't Djimi Traore win the Champions League?! Proof enough

I agree completely, in my opinion there's not many English players out there as good as Wanyama let alone available, whilst he may be on our radar we'll certainly not be on his.

Huddlestone, Bridcutt (Scottish) or we could test the water with Rodwell.

Are you actually serious??? He is literally the most useless excuse for a footballer i've ever seen. And his hair looks like a toilet brush...

He's strong with good defensive skills and great passes and good set plays, his hair needs cutting though.

Could always use him as a toilet cleaner if his form dips.

Could always go for Philipp Lahm, Messi, Iniesta and Wayne Rooney and see how it goes from there.

I'm not sure we should go for somebody who was schooled by Conor Newton for St Mirren

This. Maybe we could sign Newton up, good new young player. That left back at St Mirren an 'all. With Campbell and Alnwick brought in that's four already. Bar outgoing players that is almost all our business done. Affordable football here we come.

Watch Wanyama during Champions League games and you might learn something. I hope he's not sold but he is a good player with bags of potential and he's still young.

Although there is a hint of sarcasm in this, I wouldn't be opposed to the likes of Dummet, Newton, Ferguson and one of Mbabu/Streete being kept for next season's squad of 25.

Not for me, 5-6 appearances each with us will do their progression no good at all compared to a full season on loan somewhere. Preferably in the Championship.

I believe they would give more than brand new imported players would and settle much easier, I would send out Sammy, Vuckic and Campbell for experience in the Championship.

You can have unlimited number of players u-21, so Mbabu and Streete are fine anyway. I get your point, but a year ago we said similar things about Fergie, Ameobi, Tav, Amalfitano, Richardson, Vuckic and a couple more besides. I think the point is a manager has to know who's good enough and who isn't. I dont think our manager gets anywhere near this. SAF is the master.
