Now we can see why Assem staged the British Squash open. I bet he tries to stage Glastonbury at the other end next season.
Just looked on Sky - FC Vs Leeds Rhinos - massive yellow patch. Looks funny - Odds on RL Forums in overdrive later?
Later? http://forums.rlfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=551508&tsmp=1370033034 To be fair, it's not right is it? Can you imagine this board if it was the other way around?
They're hilarious, what a bunch of clowns. The annoyance is fair enough, it the tables were turned we'd be well pissed off, but they come across as a bunch of petulant children.
that standee is a dick, just seems like the type of guy who has no life other than poor old fc... needs a good clip round the head
He is, but he doesn't even go to games. The pitch was a joke tonight, and Hull fans are rightly not happy with it, why not stage it in the arena which would have been big enough and it's events like this which it was built for, especially when it had to be moved for a bit because of the weather?
I've just seen the 'highlights' on SKY news and the FC fans were complaining at the crowds for the squash!!
It doesn't have as much of an affect as it does on football, but that patch last night was rock hard compared to the rest, so the bounce of the ball is completely different to the rest of the pitch, which causes some problems from kicks. Also because so much time is spent on elbows and knees it really cuts up the players, and can cause injuries. Probably just a coincidence but all of the points last night were scored at the North stand end!
With the history, there's a rumour it was left like that to minimise the damage if the goal posts got pulled down onto the pitch.
As long as its a relatively flat surface and there's grass cover (even dead grass like in the picture) then it doesn't really. Only if it's a mud bath does it really start to have a negative impact on the game. Different pitches effect the bounce of the ball, shared pitches and football pitches make it bounce higher and further, but players adjust to this each week anyway. The reaction from Hull fans is a little over the top, especially after the game, the pitch made little difference and they won the game regardless!
When the ball is egg-shaped, doesn't it just bounce all over the place unpredictably all the time regardless of the state of the pitch? As for cutting up elbows and knees, what the ****?! RL fans are always going on about how football is for puffs yet they're worried about getting cut knees from the hard surface? Really?!
To a point, on the hard bits the bounce is much higher and faster than on the grassier parts. It doesn't sound much and the players won't mention it but whenever I've played on rock hard pitches the burn when you have a shower is horrible! It didn't affect the game, it was more that it looked crap than anything else, and if it was a mudbath it would have had much more of an effect.
This is ridiculous. Firstly the "patch" from last night was nothing to do with the squash, it's where the pitch has been repaired. Secondly I used to follow Hull FC as a kid and went to every game home and away, first and second division in the late 70's early 80's, and many weeks you could have held a swimming gala at the Boulevard. For them to get so precious about the pitch, especially on a day (night) when they beat Leeds ****e o's is plain silly.
