'Comments on the petition described the new badge as "amateurish", "poorly designed", "ridiculous", "clownish" and "not fitting a club of Everton's rich history and stature".' the clubs response: 'Our chairman had demanded widespread consultation and we stopped short of that. "We talked to our Fans' Forum, our commercial partners and our experienced staff around the club. That was not enough' The club said Evertonians would "make the final decision". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-22696130 ----------------------------------------- now contrast that with vincent tans approach, good on the everton board for listening to the real owners of the club. its not called the peoples club for no good reason.
Umm..the badge is staying...so because they said sorry for not consulting the fans that makes it alright?
Actually...its' not staying......after consultation with fans they'll be re-designing & issuing a new design for the 2014-15 season
We have to look at the bigger picture as far as we are concerned. Without VT's support and money would we be playing Prem football next season? Okay he has upset some people but what's the old adage, "no pain, no gain"?
There's no such thing as 'real owners'...there are shareholders....VT is the main one in that category. All the rest are customers, some of whom may take their custom elsewhere if they are not satisfied. but there's the catch, these people are locked in by years of supporting. It's a private limited company that may become a public limited company at some stage. Then, anyone can become a part-owner and participate in decision making. look! I don't want to denigrate fans in any way (I am one!) ....but with the way football in the UK has developed, fans are a source of some income, which is dwarfed by TV rights and league payments. we are, therefore, somewhat down the pecking order when it comes to decisions. At best, we have some power in that televised games might have less atmosphere if there wasn't a full house and the TV people might get less interested. But the mass market for TV is what drives everything. I reckon if crowds dropped and the noise around the ground was important to the telly people, they would pipe some in. In any case, as mentioned earlier, where would we be without VT and his support? I doubt many would be standing around Llandaff Fields or Roath Park on a Saturday afternoon supporting CCFC Newco in some bummer league.
FB without the fans there is no club. FFS all i was pointing out was that everton clearly care about their fans opinion, they listened to their concerns and now they will keep their old badge, contrast that with tans 'rebrand or liquidation'.
I agree with Swamp. The PR at our club is a joke. The shocking new kit may be a good thing. Hope sales are so bad that they have a major rethink about this rebranding.
Sorry guys but having watched Tan's TV interview a while back I got the feeling that my original assessment of him was accurate. A speculator with no real love for the Club who will cut and run when the money's right. So what do you expect on the rebrand/ badge/ kit? He's got utter contempt for the real fans. But if you're OK with all that then fine.
You're not the guy who said you'd happily see your team play in pink pyjamas if it meant top flight football are you? I kid you not.
Maybe you have the mental age of a kid , but it really doesn't bother me in the slightest what you or any other non Cardiff supporter thinks about our club You have no relevance to me , ie you are nobody , so jog
Rodents have arrived ......................................... Soz as can not say Pikie as offends the poor luvs ............................................;o)
I doubt that. As he is somebody from outside he is operating from a different position. I would expect he believes he is doing things correctly. The people more at fault are the board who do not seem to have explained things very well. It is also easy to sit back in hindsight and say he is treating us all like **** when we have won the Championship, got promoted, and now the threat of administration looks a long way away. Of course, the debate is what option would have been preferable.
Swamp! Didn't mean to start something off......I agree that fans are an important part of any club but don't necessarily agree that we have a major say in what goes on in the current footballing world ...and we just have to recognise that. we have some power but not a lot. I also have a bit of a problem (on-going) with certain groups being referred to as plastics or fair weather fans and somehow 'lower-class' fans. It is all over these boards and irks me a bit. In the end, fans bring support (sometimes in person, sometimes from afar) and money. A successful club gathers more fans and the late arrivals often bring more money. Indeed, the crap jersey will be a case in point....older fans may resist and not buy them but newer fans will. VT, I reckon, is betting on new fans in the far east and I suspect they will have no compunction about buying these jerseys. I wouldn't be seen dead in one...and that is not about age, it is just too bad to be true. I only hope it is some sort of mock-up and will be better in the flesh. As has ben said elsewhere, PUMA really do crap jobs of jerseys...always have and probably always will. As Siam said, the Board overall are at fault for failing to get the story over and also for not helping VT understand the local traditios. Then again, VT may be correct....he made the billions, not us.
Did I get this wrong but didn't Swansea have to ask their fans to stop wearing Manu and Liverpool tops to the Liberty ? EDIT Looks like the like red better than white.
I've heard they will be stopping Rugby shirts and Max Boyce songs next ........Last one out switch the lights off please
Looks like England & Wales cricket team have cottoned on.......................... What has VT started ? http://www.jdsports.co.uk/product/a...ype&keyword=&gclid=COWzxJm0wLcCFYTItAodLyAARQ
