What?....you know ho bad he is...

you are about to witness the distruction and relegation of your club and everything it stood for....!

I genuinely feel sorry for you guys and girls. I wouldn't even wish this on Leeds, but maybe Chelski!!

    Good luck; you'll need It.

Expect to get Andy Johnson, Bobby Zamo and any other old has been that was at Foolham with him...

Terrible terrible appointment. Honestly thought we'd never see him manage again

    You have our sympathies...:emoticon-0109-kiss:

    Canary in peace,
Just as long as he doesn't dump on you from a great height - like he did Fulham when he declared that QPR 'had ambition' - the assumption being FFC did not.
    What a f***ing diplomat, hey?

If he does, no point bleating about it, you (and your chairman) know the score :emoticon-0116-evilg

Sorry lads, but I have to agree with Queenslander.

I cannot work out why on earth you've chosen Hughes. can someone enlighten me?

A fan on SSN believes it's a "sideways move", but I think he's being kind with that.

His best record was with city, winning 47% of games whilst in charge. - with the money he had, was it surprising? (And that % is still not good enough)
Awful at fulham and QPR, as we all know.

The only success he can boast is that he took Blackburn to 6th place. But that was years ago. Just like Martin O'Neil and a few others, he's been completely left behind by the new breed of coach such as Rodgers, Laudrup and AVB for example.

Your club seems to be run by good business people who have always backed the manager. Pulis might have had his faults, but he's kept you in the premiership. I understand that you've reached that point where it's time to move on, but I am so confused what your board has seen in MH? - especially for 3 years! <yikes>

    Totally bizarre, IMO.

Best of luck chaps. I also genuinely feel sorry for the fans.

Next season could be a torrid time.

    Nothing to do with US.

All to do with our senile Chairman and his family.

Like any manager the only way he will win the fans over is by winning you games - so time will tell

I add my commiserations to all you Stoke fans.

I hope it works out and he does a job for you, but it seems a very uninspiring appointment.

He is definitely not our choice but I can understand why he has been selected. He will be cheaper than most established managers and because he is in a weaker negotiating position than most will work with/for our director of football etc...

It is a reasonable comment to suggest that this is at best a sideways move, but people forget/unaware that there were deep and fundamental problems with TP. Pulis had effectively tried to insure his own job by building a squad that most would not/could not work with (whilst spending 100 million with a resale value off less than half) and this has probably steered the club away from the different style/type manager we craved.

All in all I m not as upset as most and feel that with Coates frugal but deep pockets, if Hughes can get anywhere near what he did a B'burn and replicate Fulham we will move forward as a club.

Has anyone actually looked at his history? I was one of those who jumped on the "he's cr@p" bandwagon, but is he??

Wales - beat Italy and came close to World Cup qualification losing to Russia in a playoff.
Blackburn - avoided relegation and FA Cup semi final, then finished top 6 and another FA semi final (so Europe), then 10th with yet another FA Cup semi and finally 7th.
Man City - 10th and UEFA Quarter, then sacked mid-way through the next season after astronomical spending.
Fulham - 8th finish and qualified for the Europa via fairplay
QPR - erm, bit of a disaster!

I mean, when you've got Pardew you really have to look at the finer detail and Hughes has never been as bad as he's painted. It'll be massively interesting to see how Stoke play next year, so all the best and look on the bright side!!

Remember he took over a very good Roy Hodgson side at Fulham which got to the Europa Cup Final. He changed us all round and at Christmas we were 4th from bottom. I give credit to the experienced players in the team like Danny Murphy who convinced him that his meddling was not working.

I give no credit to Mark Hughes for any success at Fulham. In the case of Man City I think I could match his record if you gave me a couple of hundred million.

As you have all said, you can only get behind him and hope for the best. Should be an interesting season for you at the very least - Good Luck.

We did play well in spells under him.
But they were bloody short spells and never for a whole game.
Virtually all QPR fans I have spoken to this season blame him for our relegation so hardly an endorsement I am afraid.

Enjoy him, his team "doesnt do defence training" and QPR never scored a single set piece so he will dismantle that too.

Imagine Stoke without a set piece threat with dull negative tactics and youve got an idea of what to look forward to. He will also sign players that are of a benefit to him and his leech agent (kia joorchobian) and not the club.

And if he somehow does well, he will be off ASAP to a "bigger" club as he thinks he should be managing a top 4 side, a no win situation really.

He wasnt very good at that either! He wants to buy players who already know what to do rather than make the players better.
He also sticks his head in the sand, if something isnt working. He will carry on doing it convinced it will work and hes right so never expect a plan b if you can see a loss coming.

I read that you have a pretty bare squad that needs quite a few replacements which is a disastrous situation for you as youll have a load of new players that wont be coached into a team.

I seriously thought hed never manage again, thats how bad he was at QPR, the worst manager Ive ever seen and weve had more than a few bad ones.

Not many Blackburn fans on here criticizing Hughes I noticed. Yes QPR he had a disaster this season but shouldn´t be judged purely on that, not as bad a manager as many are making out.
Biggest problem I see is that your squad are all Pullis "type of players" and it will take a major rebuild to change the style of play, too fast and you may struggle. What value you have in the current squad not too much I would guess. Good luck for next season anyways.
ONB hows things mate? Buggering off as requested now feel free to wallow in your despair :emoticon-0105-wink:

to be honest I still believe we have some good footballers at stoke e.g Shawcross, Huth, Wilson, Adam, Nzonzi, Jerome, Pennant, Crouch, If we can shed a few of the poor players and bring in 4 good players I think that we have the foundation for a good footballing team. We need a couple of fullbacks and a couple of wingers in my opinion
