Good Morning Everyone, It looks like GFH are putting their hands in their pockets to the tune of 1m. Thanks right folks, the Mail report that McDermott is tabling the bid for Boltons central defender Matt Mills. The 26yo has spent the majority of hic career at Leicester, before moving to Reading for 5m. His days seem to be numbered at Bolton due to an achilles injury which has kept him sidelines more or less since Christmas. Thoughts? Other players on McDermotts radar include Beckford and highly rated midfielder Andy King. If we can sign King and either Beckford or Sharp, I'd be happy. Obviously we would still need an out and out winger, but would at least show that we are moving in the right direction. It would be nice to lure players that are wanted by their clubs, instead of their cast offs. Suppose we have to start somewhere. Stoke having appointed Mark Hughes. Why would they do that???
Morning Elland. Will be great providing its not Byram paying for the transfers. Anyway on to more important stuff, you'll never beat the Irish, you'll never beat the Irish
Morning Eire, agree. I went to see Hangover 3 last night, don't even know the footie result? What was it?
You can get 7/2 on Stoke being relegated Has to be worth considering On the transfers fron, just watching, waiting - and hoping
No - They had a world class keeper producing a motm performance And who the **** is Dunne - not a keeper I'm familiar with?
Morning all...I tell you who is Dunne and that's R.Keane...retire man Don't really want Beckford, don't know much about Mills, but he'll probably get injured in the first game for us if we do get him and Sharpe had his chance to join us before. But that's just my personal thoughts, I know everyone will disagree. TC, Forde played very well...
Morning shak, morning all Mills is a make or break gamble. Could be a master stroke. Still need width though, a clinical finisher & a decent CM, unless McDermott thinks we have someone in that mould amongst our 1,567 centre mids we currently have on our books. TC, Forde would have been my Man of the match last night. Solid performance but I thought that was one of the most boring international games I have ever seen and I'm an England fan so I've seen a few!
Forde has been good all season to be fair and deserves the Irish No1 spot - completely different keeper to the one making mistake after mistake a few seasons ago leading to 65 year ols Maik Taylor taking his place. Thought the Irish deserved to win it - the overpaid Premiershit ponces representing England are beyond a joke. Did Rooney/Lumparse or Carrick break into a sweat at all?
The Irish play like stoke, always crap to watch unless they go a goal down, then they have to come out and get hammered if they play a better team than last night.
Our thanks should go out to Stoke for giving us all a laugh this morning. If the Chairman wanted a change in their style of football then why didn’t he appoint Martinez or Poyet? Baffling if you ask me.
Afternoon all. Glad to see the game passed off last night without any trouble, save that hooligan in green from the midlands upsetting our brave boys and daring to head the ball past the unfortunate Hart. I think Lamps worked up a fair sweat, as did Roonee. Not a great game. On incomers to ER, I'd love to see us get Mills and Sharp or Beckford. Yes, we still need some width, but maybe Byram will move from RB to wide CM. Either that or Hall will be in for early season training on how to get to either byline and cross the ball back.
Personally my first two signings would be wingers rather than cm's, st's and cb's... We lack so much width it is untrue! I also think young Dawson and Austin will form a good partnership in center mid next season. Jermaine Pennant has been a name that has been knocking around and I don't think he would be a bad signing, he's very similar to Jobi Mcnuff so it wouldn't surprise me. MOT
