    Don't buy into that.

Trappatoni played his full team trying to get an upset.

Glen Johnson looks like he never knows what to do with the ball.

I agree, but really can't see why none of our boys got a run out. All four of them are much better than those in their respective positions at some point in the game. I've never even heard of that Derby CM that came on instead of Meyler or Quinn and Brady is one of the top young Irish talents at the moment

Nothing. I like Coleman and always thought he was a good player since he broke through at Everton, but he's not a patch on rafael da silva.

Sorry, but it was really more entertaining in the bar than in the stands.

I think Trappatoni is going to play some of the other squad members in the next game. Technical Tiger has a point with the cliquey side of it on here, doesn't bother me so much but when you read some of the threads certain posters making good points get ignored whilst the ones who post a lot talk to each other, I always notice there are a lot of people don't contribute who read the threads might be put off by it. I like the match day threads myself as the radio coverage is bad so use that with the BBC site

Ruddy awful game. Thankfully non of our guys were a part of the bore fest. Ex.Tiger Jon Walters started for ROI with another ex.Damian Delaney fresh from his Palace exploits joining the 4 hull city players on bench warming duty.

Guess this lot may wello start in the ROI home friendly with Georgia on sunday. Live on sky sports. ko 17.30hrs

England are a below average international side and always will be if we persist with the likes of Gerrard,Lampard and Rooney. Roy Hodgson is not going to take England forward, but can see anybody else doing either.

Sadly for England i agree with you. We have no real quality coming through as will be proved when the U21 play the tournament next month. The best that England will do is make World Cups and maybe get out of the group stage. Thankfully ive seen England Win a World Cup. Most of you wont ever enjoy that feeling sadly.

Blame the PL clubs and the FA.

Sticking with Lampard, gerrard and Rooney <laugh>

Lampard, ok he's getting on a bit now and may not make the next set of finals, but he's still one of the best players in the premier league never mind the England squad. Who would you replace him with?

Gerrard, not as good as he was, but still one of the best passers of the ball, and has a wicked shot and can threaten from anywhere in 30 yards from the goal. Doesn't seem to burst up and down the pitch with the same energy anymore, but again, who would you replace him with?

Rooney, I know it's popular to slate him, but he's by and large the best English player at the minute, we don't have another player anywhere like him, he's a creative genius, his little tricks and flicks to send people through on goal, he can pick up the ball and hang on to it while others get forward and is a goal threat himself. There is no one anything like him, dare I say even in world football, never mind English. He may not be banging them in every game for England, but we look a far, far better and way more fluid team with him in it than without.

Our problem is lacking a real forward, if we had a Drogba I'm sure this team could be successful, hopefully sturridge will step up now he's getting proper game time at Liverpool (where he must say I think he's looked absolutely class)

    Hart
    Walker Cahill Lescott Baines
    Wilshere Lampard
    Walcott Rooney Chamberlain
    ?

That team is very competent, just lacking the front man to fit in. No English striker really fits the bill, that's the problem.

    Three problems with that selection

Wilshere is never bleeding fit & we haven't got anybody who'll get stuck in.

If we could play it about like Spain then i'd have said we won't need a holding midfielder, but we can't keep possession for more than a few seconds.

Third is, Chamberlain never plays for Arsenal, he's always starts on the bench and comes on later, so why is he in the England team's starting line up?

Agreed. Why does Lennon never seem to get played for England? He would be a much better choice.

Adam Johnson deserves a shout as well.

Chamberlain should be playing for both arsenal and England I reckon, he's class. More game time and experience and he won't be missing sitters like last night. Does all the right things and ticks all the boxes for me, who else can really play out on the left? Downing? That's about it, and he only plays to his ability once a year.
