I thought the point of Pulis leaving was for Stoke to go in a different direction?

I see this job being tailor-made for Hughes to do what he did at Blackburn for a few seasons, successfully you have to say.

But it's not going to be a million miles away from what they are now, is it?

He'll maintain their midtable status I would have thought though.

I can't see him being successful with stoke. I think it's a relegation battle for them next season.

He isn't a bad manager really thoygh is he. Did well at blackburn, harshly sacked at man city and did well at fulham. QPR was just a job that didn't go right at all....

He did well at Blackburn, spent well over £100m to get Man City a finish in the bottom half of the table, went a bit weird a Fulham and completely ****ed up at DQPR.

He's lucky to get another Premier League job so soon.

Surely there were better options for Stoke - especially as they say they want to change their style of play. Hughes is from the same mold of management as Pulis

Already have done. Joint one....Hull City to stay up and Stoke City to go down.

Very much so. He will do well to be still the manager by the end of the season. He has to sell to buy already. Lol. SSN reporting. 90% of stoke fans dont want him reports suggest. Not a good start is it. :emoticon-0116-evilg

Please can we have Stoke City in august PL ?

Im with Party here - surely this is just swapping like for like. I dont think they'll go down, they'll be too hard to beat but will not score many goals. Exactly the same as every other Pulis season then.

I think that'll be one less relegation place to fill. He was ****ing dire at QPR - you're only as good as your last job.

On paper DQPR had a much better squad that Stoke City do now. Hughes has been told to sell before he can buy.

Hughes ahas to work under the technical director. I agree, one relegation spot filled already. Lol.

Don't see what difference it makes. Any team outside of the top 8 or 10 are always at risk of being involved in a relegation fight if things don't go quite right, and that includes Stoke. A middling PL team who could easily go down in a bad year. It would have to be a sensational managerial appointment to make them anything else.
