Could this happen ? http://www.theage.com.au/sport/socc...r-holt-as-marquee-signing-20130529-2nbuk.html
The same club want Harry Kewell, who'll apparently take a large "haircut" to sign for them! Harry Kewell is only going to get $48k a year in Australia, and seeing as Holt's transfer request was in part about getting an extra year for the financial security it brings his family, why would he take such a huge cut to go abroad? He's clearly a family man, and is his wife, and they spend a lot of time in Rochdale. Commuting to Norwich is bad enough you'd have thought! Really can't see it myself, they can't offer him more money, a better league, or a better home-life, so it's a non-starter to me, even if they scrabbled together a transfer fee.
I wouldn't have thought so. If we were to let him go then he'd be off up north. I know he played abroad before but that was when he was younger. The one thing he is not keen on here is the distance to his family.
Well they've bid and we've turned it down http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/may/29/norwich-grant-holt-melbourne-heart He's off then
Do we really only value him at £2m ?? I really don't think we'd find a striker of the same calibre, nor the same influence around the team, for anywhere near that price.
It is quite nice over here. However as said above - financially won't compare with what he's on right now. You'd expect this sort of move in a "maturing" players' final year of contract. He'd rip it apart tho!
