Age too much of a factor there for me. £4m on someone who'll be 32 by the time the season starts - not to mention his little drive down to Loftus Road in January.

Then there's Hooper, 25, coming into his prime. Even if he didn't turn out great at least he'd have a resale value.

Celtic do well signing top NPC players, but I'd say Hooper looked equally good at that level than Rodriguez, Le Fondre, Holt and a bunch of other players we'd love to have.

Don't underrate the SPL too much, the likes of Maloney, Jelavic, Aluko, Di Canio, James McArthur and Steven Davis are proof that there are prem quality players to be found!

Not that I think we'll get Hooper btw

It would be a shock to see Hooper leave Celtic and CL football for the type of clubs who want him. I would prefer we spent £5m on Austin and Alf myself. Better value.

I would also not rule out Rhodes totally yet if the rumours have any substance to them.

They offered £6m on that day which was rejected by Celtic. £7m may have swung the deal ssn reported at the time. Norwich manager wants Hooper to link up with Ricky Van Wolfwinkel who will sign on the dotted line for Norwich this summer. :emoticon-0103-cool:

The main problem for Celtic was that the £6 mil didn't have enough cash up front e.g. a lot of the money was performance based. I think he will go for about £5 million but doubt he will be looking at us with the interest from more established PL clubs

Who knows. The Spurs link comes as he supported tham as a boy. But Spurs are after bigger fish than Hooper reading reports. Norwich may be our main rival but like i posted above we can get 2 of better quality for the same money.

Neither Austin or Le Fondre are the same quality as Hooper.

We can get 2 of decent quality for the same money, maybe. No one knows how much Austin will cost.

Hooper is much better than Le Fondre, I'd definitely have him over Rhodes & Austin too. Seems unlikely but who knows, says a lot about the state of Scottish football that we're even considered.

I can't believe people are actually comparing Darryl Duffy and Gary Hooper. <laugh>

Duffy played for Falkirk and scored 27 in 57 appearances, Hooper played for Celtic and has scored 63 in 90 odd appearances.

Both had good strike rates, but Hooper is clearly more prolific and has shown that League 1/League 2 is not his level considering his 43 goals in 80 appearances for Scunthorpe at that level. He'd definitely be a welcome addition to this squad IMO.

£4m, I'd snap their hands off. Any higher, and maybe not.

hooper wants to play in the PL, he wants to try and get an england call up and he can't get one at celtic it seems, playing for city in the pl and should he impress he either a gets an england call up or b gets a call to a bigger club, fulham and norwich offer him no more than us

he is better than austin and rhodes, trust me

Austin like Hooper is unproven in the PL. ALF has proved to be of PL quality this season. FACT.#

It will all come down to wonga in the end and which teams style will suit him best..
