What did Norwich get upto in terms of a bid on deadline day in Jan. Rumoured £11m wasn't it?

Norwich wont be after him now, not after spending £10m (I think) on Van Wolfswinkel.

Think Norwich quit at 4 or 5 million, the 8 odd million bid was apparently made up paper bullshit.

A small advantage we may have is he knows the area and a move to the PL is his way of trying to get into the england team as he seems to have no chance at celtic wierdly and also a possible chance to go to a big club later on because outside of these three points, norwich or fulham etc give him nothing more apart from maybe a few more points on the table come end of a season

And at celtic his peak is reached, he will win the league every season unchallenged, a few games in the champs league and repeated every season and since he never got a chance at spurs he wants to prove himself in the PL, would be a great great buy if we could pull it off

was reported our 3rd bid went to about 8m in Jan but as always official figure never released. Seems to be linked with loads of sides so he's not going to be a bargain. No idea how long left on his contract.

1 year left on contract, apparently Norwich £6m bid didn't include enough up front. £4m in one go may be enough now

An SPL striker is no different to buying a Championship striker though. Which is why all Championship players look like world beaters in the SPL. Celtic have signed Ledley, Commons, Hooper all Championship standard, great for Scotland - not great for the Premier League IMHO.

I think I mentioned it before, but Hooper looked as good as Austin and Rhodes when he was in the Championship. As with Kris Boyd, he would be a massive risk, but no more than those other two.

The only thing I would question about Hooper woul be his height. He is not a centre forward, as such, he's a number 10. Austin and Rhodes are centre forwards.

Whilst I agree with your general point, there are some exceptions. I rate Ledley and think he'll be a decent PL player.
With strikers I think it's always harder to tell exactly where they're at. It'd be a gamble, and a £4m gamble at that.

He's only half an inch shorter than Fryatt, and I rarely see anyone complain about his height.

I didn't complain about anything , I simply said he's not a centre forward or a lone striker. The same is true about Fryatt.

If we want the flexibility of playing 4231 which a raft of Premier league sides successfully did last season, we need a lone striker.

That was intended to be more of a general comment than something aimed at you personally.

I can't help but feel Bruce will look to continue with 3-5-2.

I agree, which, as an aside why I hope to God we sort something out with Chezzy.

However, either way, a big centre forward is necessary for both 352 or 4231. Lambert, Holt, Lukaku, Carroll, Benteke.

he is not too short, you seen his heading of the ball? And secondly he is more than good enoug to play upfront alone, with aluko just behind, he works better that way

And i still don't think we will get him by the way, not a chance

If it came down to spending £4m on Hooper or £4m on Odemwingie - then Odemwingie would get my vote. As he plays at PL level already and has a really good goals to games ratio. Look at the last 'prolific' Scottish striker we signed - Daryll Duffy - has now played most his career at L1/L2.

Hooper has scored a heck of alot more goals than duffy in scotland, a he got almost 30
Champ goals in a **** scunthorpse side and duffy never played in europe or cup finals,

I wouldnt say no to odemwingie eiter mind, he came from a **** lewgue too, but hooper would be a fantastic signing

If he came we would of snarched the old firms two best players in a year <laugh>

My typing on these smartphones is abysmal
