http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11731/8739441/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter I think through this he is trying to tell Huw "Hello! I need more money, if you dont give i will sell sell sell!"
I don't think he's hinting at all. I think Williams is as good as gone. I actually find this story more positive about Laudrup's plans to stay
I have been resigned to Williams leaving, he and his agent have hinted at it for ages. The guy has been engineering a move for a few months.
Perfectly reasonable, probably knows that Ash is on his way and that we wouldn't be able to meet what is probably on offer at other clubs ,hence the comment,in my view , about Ash just signing a new contract . Such like ,'' that's what we're paying here so if you want out fine and don't let the door smack you on the arse on the way out '', type of thing. No Ash has been a great servant but maybe it's time to move on for both of us? If only we could get rid of Gower so easily !
Just for you ffs, grab yourself some tissues and enjoy... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22528451
Oh well. Not worried really. The fact that Liverpool and Arsenal fans don't really want him speaks volumes. Time to cash in?
just listened to SSN it is poor journalism yet again. they are saying * teams want Laudrup yet nobody has come forward. They say Huw and ML havent spoken since the end of the season, well maybe just maybe he or both are having a swift holiday before the transfer window opens again and the last point was ML wants 14 milion and according to SSN we dont spend that sort of money. yet we spent 16.5 million at the end of last season.
Could be that both have slipped off to get involved in pre-window discussions with players/agents/clubs. A working holiday maybe? I know this is a simplistic take but we have £5 million from the sale of Danny to go in the pot, so £14 million becomes £9 million. Now, if Ash goes, which seems very likely, for say £10 million and we replace him with a £5 million CB, £9 million becomes £4 million. Perhaps we should read this as £14 million plus, Danny's fee, plus, perhaps, another lump from the sale of Ash. I would be surprised if we spent less than £20 million, though, however the cake is sliced.
Ivor i just see it as if we spent 16.5 million last year. We have to re invest as much this year to keep us moving forward. I would have thought and just guessing here, that we must have the budget for this. Last year we had the BR and allen and Sinclair money, so we were actually in the black regards money in and money out. Again as you say 5M for DG plus any Ash sales money. There must be money available for Ml or as you say are we just simplyfying this to much.
It's our third season in the premiership and i know from various sources that Laudrup was very angry behind closed doors with the way we faded away even though he would put on a brave happy face for the cameras....The players had a right ear bashing from him and rightly so....He says he needs at least 6 players for the new season and that will cost around £30 million to get his targets and he and huw had a falling out about money....that is why you see all these little comments like "i hope the club honors their pledge etc etc".....I think laudrup will get what he wants as the board knows laudrup wont be messed around....£30 million is not that much when you think of what we have amassed in the last 3 years and you have to speculate in the premiership to just stay there....Like laudrup said the teams below us will be spending probably more than us and we need to do the same if we want to remain in the top flight...
Ivor, Trundle and Dai, I might be simplifying this too much but this is the way I see it - Last summer we finished in the black (or thereabouts)....saving £10-15million - During this season we made £5million on Danny Graham - When we got promoted this summer's transfer budget must have been projected to be at least £15 million Meaning we should have £30-35 million in this summer's transfer pot. I just can't see the board not backing Laudrup with at least this kind of figure with Europa next year. If we don't spend this kind of money it will be the worst decision (and perhaps the only bad decision) since the day Petty was bought out and the present regime took over. Throw into the mix the £10-12 million from possibly selling Ash...and then bringing in, say 6, top quality signings and a season long loan or 2 looks easily achievable. The only possible issue I see is if landing some of the class that Laudrup is after means smashing our wage structure......meaning eating into the transfer pot and possibly future transfer pots....and risking unrest amongst the ranks if things go wrong. Overall you have to take a risk every now and then and the odds seem to be in our favour so I'm optimistic. Another way to look at the refurb Striker - The Graham money means that we only need to spend £3-5 million on getting a top quality front line striker Midfield dog - Agustien leaves on a free and is replaced by Canas on a free. Increase in the wage budget no doubt, and a signing on fee, but an improvement for as small amount of money as we could hope to get away with. Centre-half - We needed 1 extra. We sell Ash for £10-12 million and buy 2 centre-backs with the money (1 experienced, 1 whose top class but with further potential). By my reckoning he has improved the spine of the team with an outlay of roughly £5-7million We only then need a creative/goal scoring midfielder, an extra striker and possibly a winger/inside forward. 3 players. If things are tight the loan market could take care of one of these positions. It doesn't look like he needs to spend much more than £20-25million in total on building next year's squad. A squad that would be deep enough to field 2 different first XI's who could compete in the Premiership.
I thought his comment saying about 'Ashley has just signed a new contract...just like I did' quite interesting... It's a bit of a miss quote, but was to that effect. I think we all know Ashley is leaving, and Laudrup was giving a hint, contracts don't really mean anything...Or, I just signed a contract under the premises I would be backed with a lot of money.
I mean for a quality player that we would need for our third season in the premiership then for £5 million you wont exactly get the better ones in the £7-£10 million bracket if he wants 6 players. Maybe laudrup is being a little to greedy on what he wants and the board dont want to spend that much, but i think £30 million is a fair amount to expect for next season. We cant expect to compete to an adequate mid table side on less not the way we finished the season. I can see a few of the regulars doing more bench time if he gets his targets like leon, dyer and rangel and a few others including Michu if he goes through a lean spell like he has....I think he wants his own players and not the ones he has inherited tbh....
Well if Ashley Williams wants to go, who am I to stand in his way? He goes with my blessing!........................... please log in to view this image .
