I have read on our supporters website that Norwich and Ipswich are in advanced talks regarding a pre season friendly to take place at Carrot Rud in July! Have any of you guys heard anything about this? I have reservations about having a 'friendly' with Norwich because let's be honest, this is one of the most bitterest rivalries in English football so the idea of a friendly is just madness!
I'm more worried about injuries to our first team squad. Might be a good idea, we could field our youth team with a couple of fringe players that should be enough to see them off. Would of thought PR would have been better as Ipswich need the cash more.
Have to agree with this. The extra income compared to a 'standard' friendly will be minimal, there's a greater risk of injuries, and most of East Anglia already have to acknowledge we're the best team in the area right now. Why risk said bragging rights on a friendly, where we'll likely field a weakened side to reduce the risk of said injuries?
Of course you lot are angels aren't you! I agree that it is a terrible idea and would just increase the likelyhood of trouble before and after the game so why bother! I prefer to wait until we are in the Premiership after next season so that we can tonk you in a game that means something!
I was never suggesting we were, but injuries to your players aren't our concern! I can certainly imagine Johnson would relish the chance to put in some hard but fair tackles, and Holt'd probably try to hospitalise your CB's, 'keeper, or anyone else who comes near!
Yes I want anything that stokes the stupid out of hand rivalry between us kicked into touch. Let us play each other when we should and not before - as I've said elsewhere I hope you come up this year! I've lived in Leicester and there is a stupid, stupid hated of Nottingham Forest for no obvious reason, likewise now living in Oxford there is insane stupidity about Swindon. As I've said our mutual enemy is the corporate world that will eventually kill football stone dead. Dead is a long time for all of us whoever we support!
Pity they couldn't afford to bail out the Gambler, no doubt his probably lying in a concrete building foundation up in the North East somewhere.
