Really? Derry, Ali and Kenny had nothing to do with it then? I would say that they were easily as important as he was. they were his suppl;y line and its not as if he was ever going to come back and win the ball with a great challenge or tackle, was it? Yes he was massivly importanr for us, but only because he was allowed to play that way. We've seen how that works out at top level eh?!! Who covered up his mistakes & got the ball through sheer hard work and gave it to Adel ? Be intresting to see what you think. Agree he could be very usefull but dont think he'll be the same as he was before..Not in this squad anyway. Much change needed before he does that again....and i think HR would have to be part of it. Still we live in hope i suppose!
Why would the first player we sell be our most long serving & creative one? I really don't see the logic in that at all We should be aiming to build a promotion winning side around him faurlin Jenas Remy onouha and samba
harry's stock is low enough as it is, but plotting the removal of the best player we've had in the last 15 years would massively reduce any benefit of the doubt from fans and put him on borrowed time.
Of course we shouldn't sell him. Of course there is no way Townsend will be playing for us next season.
Gyan is on around £200,000 per week tax free. Al Ain play in front of less than 500 fans. Great if he wants the money, not so good for career. Money v Career? Probably money.
keep him his defensive play has moved on as well since he wasn't allowed into the QPR half if we do sell can we insert a 50% sell on clause out of the 2 of them I think we have more chance of seeing tarrabt at loftus rd at the end of next season than harry
Agree on the following points Queens :- There is no guarantee AT would absolutely tare up the CC like he did 10/11 A serious amount of change would need to take place at our club for him to flourish again HR would need to change enormously to bring out the best in AT - (Aint goona happen) Disagree on the following :- Derry, Kenny, Hill, Ali, Smith, Ramage, Connolly, Heidur (that Season), Orr, Smith, Mackie - These guys were/are adequate water carriers - Ten a penny players who with the right management will do a job, but do a job is all they will do - AT was the supreme difference for us that Season - Have deliberately kept Mackie there even though he only played a few games - Question for you Queens - Would we have got promoted if it had been AT with a broken leg at the hands of Diouf instead of Mackie? In conclusion - Do I think we'll keep Adel? No Will he go to the Arab league for big wages? Probably as his "issues" have been so publicly put out there that no "Big" club will take the chance. Will we miss him? You bet we will - But we'll still have Youtube Would we stand a decent chance of getting promoted with an on fire Adel with 10 water carriers? - I'd say yes As Red said in Shawshank Redemption: "Sometimes we talk about the crazy things he used to do and the incredible plays that made us cry with pride. Sometimes we wish he was still here with us and then we remember that the prettiest birds were born to fly - Me, I'm just going to miss my friend" And I treat him as a friend as he's the only reason why my Scum loving 9 year old will wear an rrrrrs shirt!
Keep- Reasons for this have pretty much already been said above- proven ability, longest serving player, and still young enough to improve and realise his vast potential. And as already said due to Tottenham’s 40% £8m becomes just £4.8m Adel is clearly worth more to us than £4.8m anyone who says differently needs their head checked. Zaha is going to United for £15m!!!! He only got 9 assists and 9 goals this year!!! Adel got more than double that!!!! The point the likes of Queens consistently miss is that it is much easier to go out and get a new player to fill Derry or even Kenny’s role equally as well. Was Derry a better player that year than Bradley Johnson at Norwich or Allen at Swansea? Of course not. Could anyone else do what Adel did: No of course not. Unless anyone can suggest an alternative signing for £4.8m or less who; has the ability to get 19 goals and 15 assists for us next year then you need to realise that the only option is to keep him. The only offering so far is Townsend and that is definitely not a realistic alternative.
To sell Adel for £8 million sounds totally idiotic to me, he will fetch far more. I think we need to keep him anyway. I don't believe this will happen.
Love that quote Danish. Keep him, and keep keeping him at every opportunity. Make his career synonymous with QPR, and next time the good times roll, watch in amazement.
Adel Taarabt for last 2 seasons combined: 9 goals 7 assists 193 shots (61 on target). Started 51 games Used as a substitute 12 games
The problem is we have seen little of THAT player who scored 19 and made 15 since promotion. We have a manager who, deep down, just doesn't reckon him and, the biggest problem, Adel knows that. £4.8 million is the sort of money you'd pay for an average PL player and, sadly, the statistics rate Adel below average. I'd hope we keep him and see how the first half of the season goes, a team set up to play to his strengths could do well but I fear the manager/player relationship is beyond repair...
