Not this time... http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/championship/next-season-winner
The bookies had us at low odds to finish high and quite low odds to be relegated. We are a **** or bust type of team, we will either be in the top 2 (lol) or in the bottom half. I doubt very much we will have a pretty good season. It will be 90% bottom half or a 10% chance of everything clicking.
Not that surprising really given that bookies odds are a mixture of the likely outcome/covering themselves. Whilst they don't play like it, we do on paper at have the strongest squad in next year's champ coupled with a manager who were it not for his dislike of paying tax, would probably be England manager. I'd personally put us more around the Brighton to Leeds, 12-14/1 odds mark but the bookies obviously have more faith in our squad and an offseason of Redknapp's wheeling and dealing than we do.
Exactly, we have the potential to buy who we want and walk it. They are just covering against that happening. Our odds of Europe in the last season would have been lower than at least half the teams in the PL.
I agree, it does feel good and gives me some hope that next season will at least be more enjoyable than the last two.
The bookies are very clever little rascals, aren't they? How the furry fudge can you put QPR as favourites for promotion when you don't even know what the squad will look like?
Is there any way we can trade these ante-post endorsements in for a genuine promotion token to be used if we're just outside the chasing pack at season's end? Thought not.
Lets not get carried away lads. We all know we are in the market to shift a few players. Lets see what our squad is like come July/August before we write off our chances/big up our promotion prospects. In the meantime, ignore the bookies until our business of buying/seling is done.
This. Anyone who bets on or against us right now is mad !!! Better to wait a couple of weeks before the season starts then it will be clearer. Saying that, I'll probably have a ton on us whatever, just for the interest
