NEWCASTLE hope to steal Thomas Ince from under Liverpool’s noses.

The Blackpool ace, 21, has been linked with a return to Anfield but a deal has not been agreed.

Now sources close to Bloomfield Road believe Toon chief Alan Pardew may nip in with a £5million bid.

Blackpool have been digging in their heels and are demanding £6m for the ace.

Inter Milan were linked with a surprise move for Ince who netted 18 goals in the Championship this season.

I know the Star are not much more of a reliable outlet than Colin of Twitter but this one I certainly would cross my fingers for and I would grace his name on my new change shirt which I bought despite the sponsor because the shirt is actually a bit of a looker. I would much rather pay around 12-15 combined on Ince/Austin than go spending big money on more overseas players such as PEA or Bony because domestic players are much needed in a team with very little character and backbone. It's time to assess our transfer policy and Thomas Ince is the perfect start.

Without wishing to sound like a broken record, there is little point signing any players until we have a decent style of play.

We have good quality players at the club already - Ben Arfa is world-class on his day but faced with the ****e 'tactics' that we're currently failing with, why would anyone be interested in signing up?

Speculation is just about all we have I suppose...

Whilst things are quiet it's good to have a bit of rumour flying around.

Always liked Ince and he would be the perfect addition. Unlike Benni, Marveaux he can actually stay fit. You have to accept he only plays in one half of the field but that's ok with me.

It wont be ok with Pardew though. He'll need to learn his defensive responsibilities.

He does like his wide men to help but then look a Benni. Took a hard line with him to start with which got the best out of Benni, made him become more of a team player, but then has pretty much freed him up since to do as he pleases - when he can stay fit of course. I hope Benni is gonna look after himself over the summer and sort his flab out.

Yeah, you're right, let's just sit around all summer not signing players, then wait until we develop our style of play next season instead... what?!?! .... <doh>

How nice/interesting would it be to see the board embark on a wild spending spree on young domestic talent? In the defensive ranks we went and got Danny Rose (first choice left back), Lewis Dunk (cover centre back as Willo departs but Colo stays on), in midfield in comes James McCarthy (cover central midfield as Gosling departs), Callum McManaman or Jamie Forrest, and Tom Ince arrive (as Jonas and brie heed depart) to give some genuine wide options, up top Charlie Austin and Justin Rhodes arrive (as Shola departs) to give some depth to our striking ranks.

Never gonna happen of course and would probably cost an obscene amount of cash.

I was thinking, would anyone take Gary Hooper as one of two new strikers?

    Wishful thinking rep.

Would be good to see something like that happen, but this is NUFC.

Could Lewis Dunk be another Willo but a little better in the air? and I'm unsure of the 2 Wigan lads but Gary Hooper and a target man would be great for me.

I like where you're going with transfer ideas and I hope Ashley, Llambias and Pardew have similar thoughts themselves.

Ince should be our #1 target.
