And they wanted a more expansive manager....they must have a dyslexic in charge of recruitment who advertised for a manager with a proven record for expensive football!

I actually think Mark Hughes is a decent manager.

Wonder what the QPR fans think ? He's only as good as his last job IMO , that was a disaster. Just another disaster on the manager roundabout now

Not sure Mourinho could have done anything with the group of players at QPR. Overpaid and lazy the lot of 'em.

That would also mean that Harry is just as bad then seeing as he did no better there.
I tend to look at what he did with Wales, Blackburn, Man City and Fulham rather than QPR. I think it was more of him being in the wrong place at the wrong time with QPR and expect him to right the wrongs of that chapter at his next club. Don't really understand the bitterness by many across a lot of the boards towards him really.

well, you say its a disaster but he managed to keep them up and Harry failed to do that with even more resources so maybe he is a decent manager.

    Wales. did ok.
    Blackburn.did ok.
    Man city.did ok.
    Fulham.did ok.
QPR. did ok first season had a terrible start but wasn't given a chance to mould his team IMO.

I actually think he is past his shelf life now but the media perception is telling us he is crap but he is actually a very solid looking candidate really

Agree Norway, if you look at his managerial career then he has done pretty well for himself. Some say he failed at Man City, but when he was sacked he was in the league position that the owners wanted him to be in at the end of the season, and I have no doubt City would have won the league with him in charge.
But I still can't figure out the reasons why he is hated by so many?

He is just another manager on the merry go round, he left Fulham hoping to get the Villa job, then got the job at QPR and messed up there, and now linked to another job at Stoke. Sorry its not that he's hated its just like the other whore managers he sells himself to the highest bidder now.

He was too negative at important times when he was Wales manager. He got us in a winning position and then cocked it up against one of the former Yugoslav sides by going for a draw when we had the team to win.

That's true. I think it was Serbia away.
We had all the ball but were just content to sit on the 0 - 0.
Then they scored against the run of play, around the hour mark.
Hughes then waits 10 minutes before making 2 attacking substitutions (Earnshaw was one).
We proceed to totally dominate creating chance after chance but don't score.

That was where the qualification campaign was lost. No doubt about it. Serbia didn't even have anything to play for.

SA9, we played Russia in the play offs. They should have been kicked out and us progressed seeing as they had at least 1 player 'allegedly' fail a drugs test.

That's what I was thinking of. Didn't we play negative in the away leg for a draw and end up losing at home? My memory is shocking, especially as I was at the home leg (albeit rather drunk)
