Interesting also that they comment that Negredo deal was very close but the price got forced up. Bloody hell!

Unbelievable the players we can now attract.

Canas took less than half what wba offered him in wages to come here.

    Ml, I want your babies.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre-Emerick_Aubameyang

Just checked out his Wiki - goal every 2 games. Started out with Milan - only 2 games though. 6ft 2 would mean, along with Kone, who is a beast, that we'll have some good presence up front.

    - didn't know that about Canas. Good news to have motivated players - people who want to develop their game and achieve something, rather than just looking for money.

am probably going to be a lone voice here, But am just not fussed on Kone, He is ok and i know he played a similar system to us at wigan. But his first touch is a pass, not what we need to work sharp passes in and around the box. He is also 29 I know its not old, young hungry players shoud be the way.

As for the other guy, Auubemyang, Can honestly say dont know anything about him, but his stats look good.

I would much rather have Lukaku on loan than 4mil for Kone.

Not before me :p Our , I repeat OUR manager has incredible status within football and hopefully we're just starting out to push on further .If these stories are true then we could be going up another level.

If nobody comes in Negredo, the price will come back down. Hernandez being a case in point, £5m then £8m then we went away for a month before it we got him for £5.5m.

    :)

We can afford Aubameyang if the salary can be sorted, but Jenkins has shown a reluctance to spend that kind of money and I suspect nothing has changed. Lukaku is more do-able but will depend on the new Chelsea Manager. Kone could do a real job for us I think but only as a stand in for Lukaku who I would prefer up front with Michu in behind.

    What a thought.

Aubameyang is interested in playing for us despite the rumour that Spurs would pay him three times as much, so the article says. Sounds good if it's true.

Lukaku has said he wants to play in Germany so we might miss out. If so, Kone for £4 million or less, seems a decent shout. He wouldn't be required to play pretty passes in the oppo box - we have other players who can do that; too much of it, in fact. We need someone direct who can finish their work and Kone is a physical, energetic striker capable of doing it. Maybe a cheeky bid of £3 million might get him, which would be an excellent buy.

Love some of the sound bits turning bigger wages down to play for us.

I do not think Kone is good enough, especially for £4million. Every match I've seen him play his first touch has been terrible and he never really seems in control of the ball. As for Aubameyang he does seem a very good player, but £12million is a huge risk for a player who has a decent scoring record in Ligue 1, the ineffectiveness of Chamakh and Gervinho worries me. Even Giroud hasn't set the Premier League on fire and his scoring record in Ligue 1 was even better than Aubameyang's.

Good point. I didn't know the asking was £12 million and I don't think we can afford that sort of fee. Even if we could, I wouldn't be keen. As Llyr says, he is unproven in the Premier League and we can't take the chance that he'll flop. Bigger clubs can afford to gamble but we can't.

£10 million is the very most I'd want us to pay for any player and for that I'd expect proven quality at this level. I'd sooner we spent the money on two good players who will benefit the squad depth and maybe look to spend more next season providing we've consolidated our position in the Premier League.

I really hope we can get Aubameyang, he is a quality player. I have been lucky enough to see him play a few times, when I visited Gabon for the African Cup of Nations last year. He was very very impressive and scored in both of the games I saw. He did actually score in all the group games but sadly missed the penalty in the shoot-out with Mali in the Quarter-Finals. He was actually joint top scorere of the tournament. I am very excited about the prospect of him coming to us.
One consideration that may come into play is the fact that the African Cup of Nations can take a player away in Jan/Feb time for up to 6 weeks, although Gabon do not have a great record, qualifying through being hosts in 2012, they did not manage to qualify for 2013 so I don't think it would be too much of a worry. Fingers crossed we can do the deal!!

Looks like the move on this Aubameyang is hotting up folks! been reported that the player has agreed to go to the Swans after accepting 3 times less than spurs offered!! his father is a massive fan of Laudrup and both player and father see the swans as the sensible intermediate step before going to a top 5 club :)

What about this fee though ?? 12m euro's isnt it? is that what the recent apparent grumbles have been over i wonder?Laudrup getting the nuts and bolts sorted and the club baulking at paying the fee?

Anyway, it will all come out in the wash, still a long shot though :)

Saw Kone play against Arsenal - he was crap. Needs a higher work rate to improve our team.
