Have to be honest and I do think that Tav, Sammy, Good, Streete, Campbell, Ferguson and maybe even Bigi should all be loaned to championship clubs on season long deal with the option of a recall (in case injuries get desperate again).

Our youngsters never seem to get enough game time. You see Man Utd loan out Wellbeck, Jonny Evans and many others, then they get them back and they've improved tenfold. Definitely the route we should go down, especially for Ferguson and Campbell. If we sign two strikers then can't see Campbell getting much game time for us next season.

Yeah get what you're saying, but then look at Villa, there are young british youngsters to be had at the right price in the lower leagues. Lowton turned in some top performances and right back for Villa in the pressure cooker environment of a relegation battle, pretty impressive really.

I mean would 8m for Rhodes be any more of a risk than a european striker for the same price? For me it wouldn't, he wouldn't need time to adjust to the English game, he's young so will still improve, knows the language and is a proven finisher.

I know people will say about PAE etc but what's to say he'll definitely adapt to the English game etc??? I mean look at Kezman, Kuyt, Weah (going back a bit now), Veron, Forlan, Shevchenko etc, some players just don't adapt so I don't see that paying the extra 1-2 million for a young british player is any more of a risk than signing a foreigner who may not adapt.

Leigh Griffiths, young and banged in goals in the SPL last season. Plus he contracted to Wolves so he wouldn't be that expensive.

I almost don't care who, we just need two extra strikers that will compete for places. The 'type / style' is almost irrelevant as I'm not sure that Pardew would adopt the tactics to play to their strengths anyway. So we simply need two good strikers who can score goals. Added bonuses would be that they work hard and are good in the air (to give us something from the long ball 'hit and hope' and maybe even half a chance at set pieces).

Does Pardew know how to adopt tactics?

Hmm. Interesting comments from Benteke, essentially partaking in the old Sun cliche...the "come and get me plea". He actually mentioned Arsenal. I just wondered - would Olivier Giroud be a viable target for us? Experienced, hasn't been a roaring success, but now more used to the Prem?

    I think he'd be a fantastic signing.

17 goals in all competitions at a new club isn't a bad return. But didn't we try to get him but he chose Arsenal instead? Don't think he'll move after just one season.

If Benteke is bought by Arsenal, I meant. And we didn't have his former club captain in our ranks when we last tried to get him.

I'd be happy with Girourd. As you say he now has some Prem experience so should be less worries about his being a flop.

Aubameyang, though unlikely, would be a signing that would rekindle some excitement and hope for next season. He would still need to be one of two striker signings though.

Giroud has been very good for Arsenal, he won't be going anywhere, let alone Newcastle. Wenger is just trying to get the required depth to launch a bid for the title. They have paid off their debt now, the TV money is in, they will spend big in the summer. I could see Benteke going there.
