No chance. Tbh I have never rated him, even when he was banging them in for us. No doubt he has decent positional sense but that is litereally all there is to his play. That and his pace, which will now be fading. The lad is a ****e finisher, he misses 3 for every one he scores, he has **** work rate, awful hold up play. Literally all he's good for is sitting in the box and tapping it in. And who knows if he even has that in his locker after barely getting on a pitch in over a year? Add in the way he treated SAFC, the fact he's a mercenary twat with zero loyalty, and he's getting into his twilight years for a striker, and it's a massive NO from me. Wouldn't want him if he was free, not worth the wages. We should be aiming to improve, not take back a player who's a shadow of the version we had 3 years ago.

balls to him. If we were going for a former proven goal scorer, you couldn't do better imo than Sir Kevin of Phillips, a consumate professional.

39yrs old, looking fit as buggery last time I saw him play for CP, played 15 games last season (14 L, 1 cup) and scored 6 goals...........balls to Bent!

Just for ****s and giggles - if Paolo did want to sign him, and part of the £24 million deal when we sold him to Villa included a payment to us as part of any future sell on (still with me?) would we, lets say, offer £6 million which villa accept and the sell on fee to us was say £2 million- would he then technically only cost us £4 million? My head hurts now!

He isn't PDC's type. Always looking for the bigger buck? Not loyal. Don't want him. As for goal machine, he should have stayed withnus but didn;t. His lookout. Let Bruce have him at Hull.

I think a lot of bents leaving was down to Gyan, he just didnt think he was very good, and Gyan seemed to be getting the limelight, Didnt he tweet that Gyans first touch was crap or something along those lines. I also think that the I am with World class players was a dig at Bruce/Gyan more than Sunderland, and lets not beat about the bush here, all i have kept reading on here for months is, Keane and Bruce bought ****e, need to get rid, so maybe Bent knew something we didnt want to admit at the time.

Its one of those viscious circles/hindsight cunundrims though. If they sell him for 8 million to lets say Hull and he knocks in 20 goals next season and we are still struggling most (not all but most) will be saying we should have bought him. If he goes for 15 million and gets 3 goals and is just as ****e as he was this season we will be saying we dodged a bullet.

Without the benefit of hindsight, I say yes get him, but like everything, it could end up pear shaped.

He will never play for England again and yet if he had stayed with us he could well be the number one choice now.

It warms my old heart to know this? :emoticon-0116-evilg

    he didnt last year.

8 games started 8 as sub, 3 goals, 17 shots off target, 7 on target, 0 assists (these have always been ****e). but i would still have him back, a lot of players make bad moves and regret it.

I don't agree, The goals always dry up with the pace for those sort of strikers.

He's not as good now as he was when he played for us. Which is why Villa want rid.

He'll want top wages with no guarantee of goals in return.

A big no from me .

Was Bent not getting games for Villa this season because he was close to triggering a clause which would give your lot more money and they didn't want to pay? Or did I make that up
