no hes making one, good on him , they are paid very well to do as asked and follow a code of conduct, half the trouble with the country , imo
Brilliant post Cest, whilst I share all of your fears and dislike our dirty linen having a public airing, I have a sneaking feeling that PDC has a bit more savvy than the media give him credit for. The local and national rags are praying for us to be in turmoil because PDC is a good story following “fascist gate”. However my take is that immediately the season ended PDC was always going to stir the pot and Bardsley gave him the opportunity. He will know that he needs to keep a spine of a team so he has to make examples, I would guess his moves out will be: Bardsley Kilgallon Bramble Mangane All obvious easy targets and probably would have been on their way under O’Neill but his immediate response to the Bardsley and food poisoning incidents makes me hope that he gets things done at a pace and we will see incomings just as fast as the outgoings.
He could well have, the good news is, its the end of the season, we can deal with it. Those who are left have bought into the new regime...be interesting to see who actually will be left in the squad
normally i agree with cest on most things but this time i think he's being too ccautious, they deserve everything they get which may include going to a lower division with a lot less money and it serves em right.
I think many are picking my stance up wrongly here. I'm not arguing that huge changes are needed but my question is should it be done so in a blaze of publicity? Some players will be leaving naturally but others may have to moved on for fees not frees? I just have fears that the public slaughtering will put off potentially good targets from signing for us this summer. It's either a brilliant piece of brinksmanship which will pay off or it will totally explode in all our faces, with current staff not moving on and better new ones not coming in. I sincerely hope and pray its the former because the latter is a one way ticket to oblivion now.
This is exactly what our slumbering club has needed for many a year. Changing the mentality of a bunch of average, overpaid footballers isn't a task that needs to be done on the quiet. We might lose a few quid with difficult to shift outgoings, we might not, however in the grand scheme of all things this malignant mentality needs to be eliminated. I'm confident a club of our size will find the right financial balance. After Paulo went public, the only type of player that will sign up for SAFC now will be a player that is able to handle discipline and is aware that coming to Sunderland involves being highly professional and that is exactly what our club requires. We won't need to pay inflated prices for foreign recruits and I also hope to see every one of these 'players' that complained to the PFA depart during the summer. Instead of worrying, sit back and enjoy watching Short and Di Canio make the changes that need to be made. It's going to be very interesting and I suspect that it will be very enjoyable. I'm very confident we won't finish 17th next season.
PDC should have been more discrete(but Bardsley put this in the public doomain by acting in a way worthy of being photographed), however if PDC has not followed the correct procedure for disciplining players then he is a fool and will learn a humiliating lesson. With regards to recruiting players why should decent professionals fear PDC, I suspect the rules to which PDC & his team are working are common place in Italy & Germany and continental players expect and enjoy to be pushed to improve, the English though............ask yourself, are you bothered? For me it speaks volumes that it is English players who are at the heart of the matter - and a very good point is made elsewhere - is the lack of commitment to follow rules the reason why we fail and the English team fail perpetually. The PFA are not on the moral high ground here, Bardsley & Kilgallon were amongst a group of players who went out, the others left before midnight and look as if they have not been punished, however for Bardsley to do what he did is a direct challenge to PDC and could only ever be made an example of. This is just another stick for the media to beat PDC with and he must learn to keep his thoughts and actions in check otherwise they will goad him for a reaction.
The media will have a very difficult task spinning this in a way that the majority will agree with. The vast majority of fans have had enough at the behaviour of some of these overpaid ****ers. Bardsley may have complained to the PFA, the PFA may come to SAFC and check out a few processes. One thing for certain is that Bardsley will be playing his football elsewhere next season. No player will challenge PDC and get away with it. The fact that this issue has made the public domain will only serve to attract true professionals to our club. I for one don't see how this will be a loss for the club.
There is nothing we as fans can do to affect these matters. At least with PDC is entertaining. Bit sombre that, but y'know.
Lost the dressing room? If I could get rid of the players and keep the dressing room it would be a net gain.
The idiot Bardsley presented Di Canio with the perfect opportunity to magnify what sort of a person he is. Fancy posting pictures of himself on a public message board. Footballer's brains I suppose or he was still drunk.
