According to todays HDM, Steve bruce will be open to offers for McLean, Stewart, Cairney and Jakupovic (providing we get get 2 keepers in the transfer window) http://www.thisishullandeastriding....tory-19044100-detail/story.html#axzz2TkAYWuF1 Note: - the paper version actually mentions Cairney but the internet version doesnt..dont know why
My Mum gets the Mail delivered every day strangely it arrives as a morning paper, it printed the night before
Just speculation about cairney. Hope he doesn't go, he's got far more to offer us and may well show it this series. He may well prove equal to deco and Lampard again.
Steve Bruce is on his holidays at the moment. Non of them are shocks and can be used in exchange deals surely ? How about McLean-Stewart-Cairney plus cash to Peterboro for Striker Dwight Gayle then ??
Players like Cairney are a funny breed. They either go on to greatness or end up amounting to very little. Mark Noble, Stuart Green been the prime examples.
Totally agree and two good examples. I really liked Cairney from the first time i saw him play and he does remind me of Stuart Green, who I also thought had bags of talent but didn't seem to have the drive and ambition to succeed. Unfortunately, Tom looks likely to go the same way unless he can buck his ideas up pretty quickly!
I find it to be all psychological. These sort of players can often do to much standing still, play simple passes which makes them look like they rarely loose the ball etc.. they opt for the easy runs rather than trying to take on players. The ones that do well are the ones that step up their work rate and start putting in tackles in addition to this style of football. If like you say Cairney bucked up his idea, went into every game with the attitude of dean Marney I have no doubt he could make it at the top. Instead he will likely end in in league one looking a class apart and with everyone asking why he never made it at the top.
Back then Tom had George Boetang by his side. Then TC got mixed up with Bullard and his crazy lifestyle. TC needs a very good pre-season or he will be gone. He has the talent without a doubt but his ego gets in the way far too much imo.
I'd keep Cairney for his final year, he looked better in the Premier League than he has in the Championship and I'd give him another go.
Makes no difference, we'll get **** all for him now and if he looks half decent back in the Premier League, we'll either offer him a new deal, or will get some decent money in January.
Unfortunately, I suspect you're right. Players like him often think that having talent is enough to get where they want to be and not realising that without hard work, they'll always be nothing more than a might've been! When Bruce said that Cairney was raring to go after his injury earlier in the season, I thought maybe that had opened Tom's eyes to what was needed but apart from a few sub appearances, where he hardly set the world alight, he's barely been involved; presumably because he's not doing enough training either!
He also looked like a footballer when he came back. He wasn't 'tubby' before, but didn't Bruce say he'd lost 7kg? Makes his mobility in terms of getting around the pitch much better. I'd keep him too, I think he's one of those players that plays better when playing in team of better players.
Only got a left foot is the most bullshit argument I've ever heard. It's perfectly fine for players to only have a right foot like the vast majority of ours do, but if its his left foot it's a whole different matter...
