The National Union of Journalists has demanded that threats against three journalists in Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic be withdrawn. The union revealed that a County Donegal-based journalist has received threats. Two journalists in Northern Ireland had already received death threats from loyalist paramilitaries last week. An NUJ spokesperson said the union asked those responsible for the threats "to cease this intimidation and abuse." One journalist received a sympathy card with a cut-out of the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) logo. The other was sent a cut-out of a picture by-line with a target drawn on the forehead. The UVF is one of Northern Ireland's loyalist paramilitary groups. -------------------------- Considering the donegal based "journalist" and former disgraced social worker has went under 3 different names and has a tendency to "expand the truth" can we pretty much rule out that his "threat" is more than likely bullshit?
Even if he has gone under different names it doesn't mean he hasn't been threatened and it wouldnlt make it right if this was the case. I suspect you wouldn't be so readily dismissive had the alleged threats been issued by a Republican Paramilitary group. I note also you've conveiently brushed over the 2 other journalists who have recieved threats
The threat on the other reporters is probably more likely as they were publishing storis about paramilitaries on a weekly basis. The other fella is a genuine nutjob with an unhealthy obsession. The 3 names might not seem strange until you hear that 1 was an alias used in Irish republican circles, the other was his given name that he ditched supposedly after a mental breakdown and the other used after he decided to move from Scotland to the Republic of Ireland.
Oh well then, threaten and bomb away, he deserves it. Heaven forbid, 3 names AND a mental breakdown!? Spastic.
He doesn't sound like a nutjob to me if anything seems very dedicated and brave and if you mean he used a alias to infiltrate republican circles to gain info well then he has some balls.
Who said he deserves it? He's dedicated alright, his life revolves around a certain Scottish football club. No I don't mean he used an alias to infiltrate, he wanted to show his support but not let anyone know his real name. He's also really good at dressing up as old "army" men.
Have the threats to the Norn Iron journalists got anything to do with the 3 girls beaten with iron bars by loyalist thugs because one of them was a Catholic?
Are you sure? It took place in a Belfast Rangers Supporters Club, ex fans and loyalist thugs were raising funds for the "Kick The Pope" band.
Did you hear about it? A Catholic girl and her protestant friend went to the event. The Catholic girl mixed often with protestants so felt safe...not good enough for The The Rangers fans at that particular event it appears. Both girls were set upon and as the proddy girls sister tried to help the girls she was also beaten...did you hear much about it?
