Well here is my opinion on our players did this season.

    Th(o)ughts?

David De Gea - 8 - Had a decent first half of the season, but was still be scrutinized under a microscope. Came out huge the second half of the season and wrote off pretty much anyone who doubted his ability after that superb performance in Madrid.

Anders Lindegaard - 5 - Didn't do much with the few chances he was given early in the season, nothing spectacular, but a reliable back up nonetheless.

Rafael - 8 - Had a breakout season this year and was able to stay fit for the majority of the season. If he continues to grow and become more consistent at the back he'll be one of the best right backs in the world.

Patrice Evra - 8 - After two seasons of mediocrity, Evra really stepped it up this year and rarely had a bad game. Great to have the Evra of old back.

Phil Jones - 6 - Was injured for the majority of the first half of the season. Had 2 great games man marking people in the midfield, and then some games at center back that really highlighted his capability in the back 4. Still inconsistent, but I'm sure he'll continue to improve.

Rio Ferdinand - 7 - Was great this season, still struggles with players running at him with pace, but his positioning and ability to read the game is still class. In the coming years he'll be there more to nurture the likes of Smalling and Jones than play a large chunk of games.

Jonny Evans - 6 - Was great at the beginning of the season and in madrid, but still suffers from having off days. When he has off days, they're really more nightmares than anything. See previous game for an example.

Chris Smalling - 5 - Injured for most of the campaign, but put in solid, if not unremarkable performances when he was fit. Hoping he can stay healthy next year and get a good run of games. Think he and Jones are the future of our back 4.

Nemanja Vidic - 7 - We know we missed him when he was injured, but it was really his passion more than anything. Once he was fit he was solid in every game he played and has seemed to shake off his knee injuries.

Alexander Buttner - 6 - Had limited opportunities playing behind Evra. Was great going forward, but still is unconvincing at the back. If he can progress the way Rafael has, we've got some player on our hands.

Antonio Valencia - 4 - Had a very poor season that seemed to have him lacking confidence all year long. Couldn't run past a man and couldn't cross. If his form doesn't improve next year, I think he'll be out the door.

Anderson - 5 - The biggest thing holding him down is his fitness. He always seems to play good, if not great, but can never last a full 90 minutes. I really like what he brings to the side, but his obvious lack of discipline off the field is a problem.

Ryan Giggs - 6 - Same old Giggsy, poor for the majority of the season unless he is brought on as a sub, but hits a run of form towards the end of the seasons and lets his timeless class show. I'd guess next year will be his last year.

Michael Carrick - 9 - Was our best, and most consistent player. He seems to get better with age, and deserves all of the plaudits he got this season. Its even more remarkable given he didnt have a consistent partner in the middle of the pitch to help him out.

Nani - 3 - offered absolutely nothing this year. On his day he's unplayable, but he had over 9 months to have "a day" and we didn't get one. He's clearly talented, but has no concept of consistency.

Ashley Young - 5 - Seemed to be injured all year long, but played decently when he was playing.

Paul Scholes - 6 - Was great for the first third or so of the year, got injured and lost his form. Sad to see him retire, again, but I think he got the timing right. Legend.

Tom Cleverly - 6 - Similar to Scholes, was great early on until he just kind of disappeared towards the end of the season. Hoping he can improve on a good season.

Darren Fletcher - N/A - Sadly I think he'll retire this summer. We could have used his tireless work ethic this season, hoping he recovers and makes a comeback, but i just don't see it happening.

Nick Powell - N/A - Was really hoping to see more of him, anyone know how he did in the U21 league?

Shinji Kagawa - 6 - Had a good couple of games early, but then couldn't handle the physical nature of the league. As the season progressed, he got better and better. Hoping to see what he can do after getting a full season under his belt.

Wayne Rooney - 5 - Had a poor goal return, and seemed to lack any passion, but still seemed to drive the team forward. Linked up with Van Persie nicely. If he had brought back the fire into this game we'd have been unstoppable.

Javier Hernández - 7 - I love this guy, no homo. He's one of those players who just loves the game, and it shows whenever he played. He had an indifferent 2nd season, but seem to really step up the areas of his game that he needed to improve on. Not to mention he's got an unreal finish ability.

Danny Welbeck - 5 - If he could score goals, he'd be on his way to being a big big star, but sadly only scored 2 this year. He has a tireless work ethic and seems to really love the club.

Robin Van Persie - 9 - Kind of speaks for itself, he'd be a 10/10 if he didn't have a dip in form in February - March, when we ended up getting knock out of the CL and FA cup.

Good article, would probably up Evans and Wellbeck to a 6. Especially Wellbeck though he does need to start putting the ball in the net.

I think you've marked Rooney too far down also. He didn't really have a bad season, it was a slow start due to injuries and it tailed off at the end but the middle section, in fact for 80% say, he was still very good.

Good goals return for games played, especially as this season he wasn't centre forward. I'd say should be a 7, 6 at worst.

Had a far better season than Kagawa, Cleverly and, especially, Scholes.

Agree. He didn't score that many, but picked up plenty of assists as he usually does in the withdrawn role. If he had a bad season, it was only cos we are used to him being so much better. Deserves a 7, along with Evans who rarely played badly in an important game, saving his bad games for ones that didn't really matter.

Think you've marked Anderson too highly - he was just poor this season imo. 4 at best.

Fair enough, with Rooney, I also took into account of what he is capable of and how he underperformed in that regard.

David De Gea - 8 impressive how he developed in a one year .. had almot perfect season
Anders Lindegaard - 5 .. lacked confidence for sitting on bench alot but again he is average GK so he should remain on bench
Rafael - 8 .. one of our best players this season
Patrice Evra - 7 .. soild and great going forward .. but he had better seasons
Phil Jones - 6 .. was impressive dealing with CR .. but had mixed matches and I guess is due to him switching constantly between CB, RB CM and DM .. not easy for an unexperienced guy
Rio Ferdinand - 7 .. solid aside from some few little mistakes
Jonny Evans - 7 .. could be one of our best CBs this season
Chris Smalling - 6 .. good nothing more
Nemanja Vidic - 7 .. solid as rock .. unlucky we missed him for most part of the season
Alexander Buttner - 5 .. not convinced by him really
Antonio Valencia - 6 ... mixed performance .. ranging from very good to horrible
    Anderson - 6 .. mixed performance too
Ryan Giggs - 7 .. was class in 90% of our matches .. sadly we couldn't play him more often due to his age and stamina level
Michael Carrick - 9 .. best player in season imo .. simply sublime
Nani - 6 .. mixed performances too .. ranging from brilliant to crap
Ashley Young - 6 .. was good every time he was on the pitch
Paul Scholes - 3 .. waw .. wish he never played this season .. offered good vision but little help in other areas
Tom Cleverley - 7 .. very good start .. but lost his position by the end to Kagawa .. but overall he was very good
Shinji Kagawa - 7 .. the inverse scenario of cleverly, with average start and finishing at a better note
Wayne Rooney - 6 .. a mix of rare moments of brilliance among many other average performance
Javier Hernández - 7 .. was great in 90% of matches he played ..but still prefer him to be on the bench changing matches outcome when needed
Danny Welbeck - 7 .. solid season especially facing strong sides .. not as brilliant though facing smaller clubs
Robin Van Persie - 8 .. very good season ,.. but sadly ended in an average/bad note by the end of the season and he was one reasons why we been knocked out of CL after missing so many easy chances.. am sure that was due to tiredness.. not helped by Ronney's form which made Sir Alex use RVP more than he should had done

welbeck and hernandez both 7? one had a much better season than the other imo. Plus a few others seem to be a bit high (nani, anderson, valencia) for me.

I think Chicha went missing in many big games (aside from chelsea matches) while Welbeck did better facing stronger sides, but the situation was kind inverse facing weaker sides.. so i think it is a mix of both
rate of 6 is average imo .. so it fit Nani, Anderson and Valencia well
