OCTOBER 2012

Saturday 6th October - Swansea 2 Reading 2
A game we should have won at a canter, but at least the rot was stopped. Losing 0-2 at half-time, the boys fight back.

4-2. Swans to bounce back in style, but still with a suspect defence. It's a must-win match though. Laudrup should be considering his position if we lose 4 on the trot.black swan

This is quite depressing, Reading don't look good at all, but we are just so fragile atm. There's no swagger and the boys just don't look like they're happy out there. Need to take the game by the scruff of the neck in the 2nd half, I fancy Michu & Ki to really go for it...at least I hope so. - Norfolk Swan

First half was pure despair the second was so close to elation. Well won point for the lads but how on earth did we not get 3pts? Should have been 4-1 swans at least!That handball! Saturday 20th October - Swansea 2 Wigan 1
Pablo and Michu score to put Robertoâs team to the sword and help Swansea to their first win in 6 games.

Wigan played the last 20 minutes as we like to (and used to) but they did it better. We couldn't get the ball off them because of their pass and move football and I found it very frustrating. Worse, when we did get the ball, we didn't seem to have the confidence or the ability to keep it for very long. That's not us.

But we are still getting it together as a team yet still playing decent stuff for the most part. Wigan are a settled outfit, happy with their system without too many changes. Compare that with us. We have new players trying to integrate and develop an understanding with each other all over the pitch:-

Chico and Ash - not helped by language problems.
Davies with the rest of the back four and his winger.
Ki, JDG, Hernandez, Michu trying to gel with each other and Leon in midfield.
Danny up front ploughing a tentative furrow with his confidence shot because he doesn't know what to expect from a bunch of strangers in midfield. - ivoralljack

Saturday 27th October - Man City 1 Swansea 0
We put up a great fight at the Etihad and are unlucky to lose 1-0. The bad news is that Michel Vorm is stretchered off.

Its possible that with a bit of pressure off the boys they go out and play a blinder, im sure there will be less fear from us than there was last time we visited, after all we did beat them last time we played them !! - Norway-jack

After just hoping the lads would keep a respectable score line before the game i felt a bit gutted we did`nt draw or nick it by the end.

Our team was awsome against the so called elite of the prem. Davies ,Routledge and Michu shone as did most of the team and showed that theres nothing to fear from the big boys yet again , we will do some of the top 6 teams before seasons end if we keep playing like that and just get a bit of luck here and there .

Vorm is a massive loss so i hope Tremel has an A game to bring to the table cause he and we will need him to excell now, The team is almost the complete article again just a bit of defensive strength in depth required . - swantastic

Wednesday 31st October - League Cup 4th Round - Liverpool 1 Swansea 3
One of our best performances of the season. Chico gets his first Swansea goal and Dyer and De Guzman score on the break.

I think we'll batter you, but tbh I couldn't give a **** as its a pointless game which is an inconvenience to both teams that they could both do without with much more important games coming up. I won't be arsed in the slightest if we go out as we have enough on our plate trying to get through the league and UEFA Cup with our small squad.Toela65 (Liverpool Fan)

What worries me is that, as well as Monk has done recently, Lambert is the type of centre forward who could gobble him up in much the same way that Holt used to. Garry does not have the strength, the height or the mobility to deal with this type of player.

He (and the rest of our defence) will have to rely on our midfield putting in a real shift to nullify the service in to the strikers. It will be a good test to see if they are up to it and we do NOT want any show ponies putting in token tackles to give the impression they are working. We need genuine effort out there. - ivoralljack

I did think it was a below par performance by us, our passing at times was very sloppy and we did put ourselves under pressure when their was no need to. Hernandez frustrated the hell out of me and he lost the ball on many occasions. De Guzman mmmmmm not a good game for him, he was a culprit for a lot of the poor passing. -neveroffsidereff

Saturday 17th November - Newcastle 1 Swansea 2
A good performance on Tyneside as Michu and De Guzman score. Ba gets a consolation goal for the Toon.

Hope we can take a point, but its always 'grim up north'. The loss of Ki might be the game breaker, surely Graham will come back in, Michu step back into the midfield. Even for a Tate and Monk lover like myself it is apparent that we must strengthen defence at the first opportunity. Im going with a 1-1. -gendrosjack

I was very pleased with the work we did going forward today, i thought Shechter had a good game, he worked really hard, kept it simple when he should have most of the time and made some intelligent runs. Lacked that final touch of quality but very decent performance i thought. Also felt Michu was a different player from last week today, i didnt think being false 9 suited him away last week and he was much more effective today, linked well, fed the ball into the right areas for Shechter and took his goal superbly. Only shame was he didnt bury the big chance on 75 mins and was obv disappointed to come off but the sub for Graham made total sense to me. - pinballgkh

An outstanding result for the Swans. To go to one of the major stadiums in the UK and win comfortably is a huge achievement. I thought we passed the ball around in the second half for fun and could have scored three or four. Newcastle passed it like a hot potato and I think will struggle until at least Christmas. - PGFWhite

Sunday 25th November - Swansea 0 Liverpool 0
Brendan Rodgers’ return to the Liberty ends up goalless.

Basically Liverpool's midfield is a disjointed mess 12 rounds into the season with not one player playing his favorite position two games in a row besides maybe Gerrard but I fail to see what his best position is at the moment. Just my opinion. Compare to Michael Laudrups almost brand new midfield gelled and performing since round 1 only getting better week by week. The experiments Rodgers is doing now is what you do in pre-season. Still shuffling the cards 12 rounds in and you have a problem. -Ramblin’Jack

Fair result in fairness, neither side we're able to make clear cut chances. We weren't particularly impressive today in particular in the attacking third. We really lacked making any kind of meaningful penetration with the exception of Hernandez who pretty fantastic today, De Guzman had a poor game, really disrupted some good moves we had. I felt so much better when Aguestian came on to replace him. Hernandez constantly gave the Liverpool defence a lot of trouble, I think its becoming ****ing obvious he's going to be key player this season. This does highlight the need of new striker. Defensively we were okish. Too much last ditch defending in the first half though I thought we were a lot better defensively in the second half, with Tremmel in particular not trembling. He had a very good game. And you can't complain about getting a clean sheet. - emigre

Wednesday 28th November - Swansea 3 West Brom 1
The best 45 minutes of the season as we tear West Brom to shreds in the first half.

Wednesday night sees us play one of our most difficult matches of the season with an in form WBA in town. The Albion have picked up the majority of their points at The Hawthorns so hopefully the Swans can plunder three points. It will be great to go to an evening match again! -PGFWhite

A fantastic half of football i must say!! we look absolutly frightning at times and we have out foxed WBA with our tactics. they have been chasing shadows for 45mins gutted we lost yet another soft goal from a set piece, this is where i think tremmel should be using his size, the corner wasnt too far for him to come for it, anyway its going to ba veryintresting 2nd half, WBA will push and we will exploit the spaces - Norway-jack

That first half display was outstanding, even dare I say Barca would have been proud of that. Our formation of Dyer, Routs and Pablo ripped them apart. Gutted to give them a goal at the end of the half.
