So what do you realistically hope we can push for next year in terms of league positions..... and of course where do you think we will eventually end up.
We need to assume, for arguments sake that Pardew is still in charge and the squad at least stands still in terms of current quality.

I personally hope we can push on into about 8th place.... but realistically expect us to be around 12th place.

It will be interesting to see how the managerial changes elsewhere pan out and how that impacts on us....

It will all depend on our summer business. If we went in as we are now, I couldn't see us much higher than 10th. We're too weak in attack and lack depth in the creative areas. If you don't score many goals, you ain't going to win many matches. If you stand still in the PL you tend to go backwards but I think we are better than we have shown this season.

If we do good business over the summer 8th may be possible.

If we buy 2-3 strikers who start firing away and stay relativity injury free, I could see us maybe reaching 8th

Too many variables to even remotely guess. Table doesn't lie and the threat of losing best players is very real. I've heard before how we "needed" this player and that player, yet no centre backs arrived last Summer even when things got desperate. As it stands, a similar battle next year, but one that we may well lose, is where I see things. And if I'm wrong, then I'm happy.

Too early to predict for me until we know what our squad is and who the manager is, whether it be Pardew or a new man.

For me a 10th place finish (I mean a comfortable 10th place finish, such as a West Brom/Swansea this year so no fear of the drop) playing some attractive, attacking football with at least a good run in one of the cups would be a cracking season.

If we got our **** sorted out, buy 4-5 players, then I see no reason why we can't be strong inside the top 10, maybe challenging for 8th.

Only if we sack Pardew, I think if he stays that is bye to Cabaye, Ben Arfa and Cisse minimum. With no quality incomings, so depends on who the manager is. With Pardew we'll be 20th.

Hope? Top. Why would I hope for anything less?
Expect. About the same as this time around. Why would I expect any great improvements?

I remember before this season started somebody posted a thread along the lines of would we rather finish in a Champions League spot, OR win a cup?

After the way the season actually panned out, I'd take finishing 10th next season. In fact, anything better than 16th and still above the mackems.
