we get 8 million prize money the prize money the money is 800k per place . plus you get the tv and ground fee money
In reality, we are guaranteed £120 million for the next five years from the TV money. Each season you stay up adds £60M to that. 25K a week for a 3 year contract plus transfer fee looks to be around £8M. So we could be looking to bring in another 3 decent signings and that would only be £24M spent. That would then leave a bit of money for ground redevelopment. I think our aim ought to be for a 30-32K stadium.
All sounds good on the money side of things, hope they go a little bigger than 30-32k,more like 35+ would be better on the stadium front.
Anyone have numbers on total demand for season tickets? I understand that they limit it to about 22k but I wonder what number they could sell if we had a larger stadium.
It would be nice but in reality, the plans are to increase the City Stand so how many more could we put in an extra tier? The foundations are in place for an extra tier but I guess no more than 4000 as it is the smallest stand at present. The original intention was to knock it down completely and build a new 12,000 seater which would give us the 35K. But I am led to believe their is a problem with the road itself. Another matter the club have considered is that at the moment, they can sell virtually every ticket because by restricting season tickets to 22K, there is always a clamour from locals for tickets. If the club added another 8K on the capacity, would it in fact reduce season ticket sales as there would be more chance of getting a casual ticket. Whatever happens, we are staying at Carrow Road.
Stadium re-development has to be handled VERY carefully. At the moment the atmosphere of a full stadium is great and if you try hard you can normally get tickets. If you expand it by 8K you may start to see empty seats and the acoustics and feel of the ground may change. It's such a hard thing to judge. Just look at Ipswich.
Providing the football is entertaining, IMO we would still easily average 30K and sell 35-40K for the likes of Manure, Chelsea etc if the capacity allowed
Who, for whatever reason, managed to get the boys to score 7 (seven) goals in their last two outings. THAT is what went missing for a considerable chunk of the season, goals/shots at goal count as entertainment and the lack of them was what many fans were unhappy about. I'd go as far as to suggest that if we'd lost 3 - 2 yesterday, people on this forum wouldn't have been too surprised or upset, because at least we played with freedom, movement off the ball and attacking intent. Plus, Warky, even you must admit that an 11th placed finish at the top table of English football is not to be sneezed at
The downside to increasing the stadium size by 8k would be the fall in supermemberships, as tickets are easier to come by. However would be easily compensated by higher revenue...
Warky is still dreaming of an eleventh place finish in the Championship. don't confuse him by dangling impossible dreams in his face.
I think expansion should be gradual, so an increase of 4000 by adding to the main stand sounds right to me.
I agree with the 4000 figure. If there are 2000 on the waiting list, the optimal figure for our stadium would be another 5,000, leaving plenty of room for some tickets available ad hoc. I'd say 32k/33k, to be safe and maintain the atmosphere. Any more than about 35,000 would really risk us looking silly and the expense could well derail us, like Wolves. If we could very quickly (say over the summer) put in another 2k, I would say that would be the best policy.
Bang on the money CC. I could not get over excited before during or after the game to be honest (was an odd day). I expected a bit of a going over, as I suspect many of us might have, and truly wasn't bothered if it happened. The fact it didn't happen and we overturned both the form book and our pathetic history to away games with Man City was fantastic but still I did not get especially excited by the result. However, I did get excited with Howson's goal and the overall work-rate, movement, passing and everything else, of the team on the day.
The waiting list is a good indicator of who wants season tickets but I imagine there are quite a few who would be interested if available. Say we could sell 25k season tickets then we would allocate 3k for away fans. Although frequently this will be less. So if we had a 32k stadium we would be selling 5k occasional tickets I reckon this is entirely realistic. If we went to 35k I think we would sell out mostly but would have to look at our pricing structure.
Good point. If we expanded to 35,000 we could knock about £5 off ticket prices (casual ones, not season tickets) and still make roughly as much money as if we kept prices the same and only expanded to 30,000.
I remember getting cheap tickets given to our school, must be 15 years ago. The school charged us a pound or 2 for them. I remember it was the Preston game where their keeper let it slip through his legs.
