Defected be buggered, I'm confident of a top 17 finish next season, my only concern is that we may not retain our winners of the injury league title. I just hope Pardew keeps the same medical team and doesn't make knee jerk reaction and replace them.

If ever there was justification for continuity then our injury record over the past few seasons proves it. If we get a new club doctor, physio etc I can see us having a clean bill of health and really struggling, as our focus could be shifted onto doing well in the Premier League which won't sit well with those of us who prioritise consistency rather than this ' hire and fire ' culture which the vast percentage of supporters seem to think is the formula for success.

Agree. Let's not break our winning losing formula.

Aye but would you trust Ashley?

    Meeting between Pards and Ashley

"M..M..Mike I've been dreading this. L..L..Look we've had loads of injuries, the Europa etc. I'm sorry about blaming you in the press, I was asked a loaded question and................"
"For ****s sake Alan settle down, why is your lip quivering? Look lets put this season behind us, I'll back you in the summer and we'll come back strong next year. It was 8 years for a reason"

Meeting with Derek an hour later

"Derek you should have seen it, he was shaking like a leaf. I struggled to hold my laugh in. Fire Captain Chaos at 6pm Sunday"

    <laugh> Fair point!

Would love to see him get the boot, and although we all have no idea what MA & DL will decide I've got a bad feeling they'll keep him on...

The only hit you'd get would be a smack in the GOBi.

I think he'll stay, but he's on very thin ice, if we start next season poorly the p45 will be issued very quickly. What narcs me most about Alan's latest ramblings is the 'they've given 100%' notion. What a load of rubbish, not one player has given 100%, and only Cisse, Elliot, Krul and Simpson come out of it with any credibility as they've at least got on with it in spite of those directly around them continuously not being bothered to do their job properly.

If Pardew thinks full effort has been given at any point this season he is further gone than I thought. Excuses are fair enough to some degree, to keep morale up and protect the players, but to say they've given their all is a patent lie, and one that is clear for us all to see. The tit.

If he's right and he avoids the sack, then I think we need to all get behind him for next year, otherwise the players will instanly feel the pressure. I know I'll be in a massive minority here, but I think Pards deserves time. He's earned it. Hear me out.

Ultimately, although we've had a poor season, we HAVE had terrible luck with injuries/poor medical staff (regardless of whether you dismiss it as an excuse or not), and we HAVE had lots of extra games (less time on the training pitch at least, even if you don't believe athletes should get "tired"), and we DIDN'T strengthen enough in the summer, one squad player (plus losing Besty/Guthrie) is not enough for all those extra games. Also, we've had v poor luck with refereeing decisions this season, I read somewhere we've had 7 incorrectly disallowed goals! That's crazy.

This is the manager whose team talk prompted the fightback from 4-0 vs Arsenal to 4-4 (Harper said as much in a recent interview), and got us to 5th place in the league when we were tipped by some pundits to be relegated, albeit with some good fortune. So let's give him at least a little respect.

I think Pards has underperformed this year, but so have the players, they've massively let Pards down. Cabaye, Tiote, Jonas have been woeful, and that's no fault of Pardew. They need to buck their ideas up.

You make some really good points however my issue is his inability to get the players up for games, tactical inept and the way he does not know how to turn things around like set pieces for one.

Players always played out of position
    Jonas playing full stop.

You mention the 4/4 draw but remember why we were 4 down in 35 mins

The liverpool and Sunderland period performance alone deserves him getting sacked.

Agree with decisions that went against us but we forget the ones that did.
Sunderland should have had two penalties against us and remember the
Everton and reading games earlier in the season with the handballs.

    It's all swings and roundabouts

David Moyes finished 17th with Everton one year. And look where he is now. Not Everton...

I would love him to turn it around, and only time will tell.
Ashley needs to back him one think he refused to do last summer

I honestly think that his career at Newcastle United now rests on todays game against Arsenal.

If we get stuffed again, he's gone.

With a draw I think they'll keep him, just.

Mike Ashley offering the £1m bonus for the win clearly shows what he expects this afternoon.

    Tick tock...

Pardew ran in from the post-match huddle as soon as possible, and didn't go on the lap of (dis)honour...

Must have been dashing off to sign that 16 year extension!!!!! <party><party><party>
