I honestly think Odemwingie was misinformed by his agent and didn't know that he was doing anything wrong. Don't think you can judge his entire personality based on one mistake.
I would prefer Bruce to try and land Rhodes and Austin who are proven goal scorers and along with Aluko and Fryatt that makes us stronger (on paper at least) than in 2008. If the likes of Lambert - ALF - Graham - Fletcher - Holt can score goals at PL level then these 2 wont have a problem especially with the chances that we make. For me Odemwingie would be a mistake. No doubting his football ability but its his baggage that lets him down imo.
To those who said Rhodes and Austin and then we are done. Yes we are but we will have wasted close to 15M on two strikers who have never scored a goal in the Premier League, and we will have no budget for others. I would happily take one of those aslong as their clubs dropped the asking price, as Rhodes won't go for below 8M+ and Burnley want 7M+ in January so far to expensive.
What goes knock, knock...knock, knock...knock, knock, knock...knock, knock, knock, knock, knock...knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock...? Peter Odemwingie at Loftus Road
We need to remember two things: we need a premiers standard goalscorer, lack of goals nearly cost us this season. And forwards cost big money in fee and wages. My choice: We sign a overseas player keen to make it (ala benteke, michu). I would look in dutch, Belgium or German top leagues. These are cheaper in both cost and wages. Supplement this with a decent loan signing (the chelsea fella at wba for example) and we can be getting there forget odemwinge, fee and wages together will be high (wba gave him a big rise after his first season), bents wages would be huge, Rhodes and Austin far too expensive for no experience
I think you can give him at least the benefit of the doubt, I am not ware that he has had similar problems at previous clubs. For me he is a good player that can score at the EPL level, and if the price was right I would take him. I would certainly like to see either Austin or Rhodes, but Odemwingie I would give him a go if the price was right, I don't think he has a history of ****ishness, just an issue with WBA. Maybe he doesn't get on with Clark, as Farage has found out our cousins north of the border and not the easiest people to get on with, as I found out.
You'd rather take a punt on two expensive strikers who've never played in the Premier League, over a cheaper one who has a brilliant Premier League record?
You seriously expect us to sign a striker with a Premier League record better than one in three? RVP perhaps?
And player of the month 3 times in 3 years. What baggage? He was told QPR were buying him, but it was going to the wire time wise. He tried to facilitate the transfer by bing there to sign. Naïve, undoubtedly. Stupid - perhaps. But ****ish? Criminal? Evil, "Baggage"? To compare him to Marlon King is like comparing Chris Huhne with Hitler.
A 1 in 3 record in the PL not brilliant? ****ing hell - you'll be hard to impress with any signing then.
I bet Huhne's **** at football. In fact, I suspect he's **** at everything. Not only did he manage to marry a dog, but he managed to marry the most vindictive dog ever.
No I don't, but it's worth remembering that whilst you have a point with your assertion that lower league players are a 'punt', Lambert, Holt, Graham etc have all done the business and made a successful transition. In all honesty , for me it's a 50/50 call. An ageing, 1 in 3 , 'one last big paycheck' type of player or a young, hungry lower league player with unproven potential. I'd tend toward the latter.
Never mind perjury, he should have been locked up for marrying her. She must be the ugliest shrew I've ever seen. Just the thought makes me shudder. I hear she now lives in a gingerbread cottage in the woods.
Cons - he's clearly financially driven or why would he plan on joining moneybags yet struggling QPR from upper table West Brom. he's potentially a volatile character who could be a problem to manage. Pros - proven at PL level. his ego might relish being the 'main man' with us. scores all sorts of goals. Summary - without the deadline day farce we'd be biting West Brom's hand off at £3million+. Get him signed.
