    Pardew promises 'a show'

Alan Pardew is aiming to "put on a show" for Newcastle fans during their last game of the season against Arsenal.

The Magpies have endured a difficult campaign that has seen them battle against relegation and struggle to escape the bottom half of the table.

Having finally secured their Premier League status last Sunday thanks to a 2-1 win away to Queens Park Rangers, the club welcome Champions League chasing Arsenal on Sunday, knowing a win could see them finish as high as 10th in the Premier League table.

With one of Pardew's most memorable games at the club coming against the Gunners, when Newcastle came back from 4-0 down to draw the game, the 51-year-old is eager to see history repeat itself, and excitement return to St James' Park for the final day of the season.

"When we drew 4-4 we saw some electrifying play that day – we want that level of excitement again," he told the Evening Chronicle. "Without the mood swing of course. We want to get a result this time, and we need to send our fans home in a better mood than the last two games. It was a huge lift, not just for the players, but just as importantly the staff, with us being safe.

"Now we can really focus on one game. We can play without any inhibitions, unlike against Liverpool. That's important. We want to win the game for our fans, who have been magnificent."

Pardew has also been boosted by the news that midfielder Cheick Tiote has shrugged off a hamstring complaint and will be fit for the game. Forced off the pitch last weekend in place of James Perch, Tiote is set to start on Sunday with his manager is predicting the midfielder making a significant impact.

"Cheick's over his hamstring now," he said. "He's training well, and I think he's played a lot better in the last two games. He'll be very important against Arsenal."

So, what kind of show will it be?

I hope it's not another comical 0-5 or 0-3 loss again........ This guy really needs to learn to shut up. It's as if he expects Arsenal to come here and lie down.

It could be a record defeat maybe?
Or maybe putting on a show means he will drag Shola off his deathbed and play him?

The guys full of bullshit, how can you trust somebody whose lips don't move when he talks?

I hope Sunday is the last we see and hear of the useless get!

More smoke being blown up our collective backsides...

We will lose this game and Pardew will no doubt lavish us with more of his silky lip service. <doh>

Promised a show? You'll forgive me for remaining sceptical of a man who "promised"...

...a response from the Sunderland debacle...
...a response from the Liverpool debacle...
...an assault on the top 4...
...a new CB who could score goals...
    ...a new striker in August...
...a new striker again in January...
...attacking football, and I quote, because "all of my teams play on the front foot"...

    And so on.

Those few things can make you sceptical?

    Well I never.

Wouldn't trust him with a bad penny or to manage a school football team.

Can't trust a word he says. He probably believes half of his own words mind.

The decision to postpone his Radio Newcastle interview says it all. The club probably want to make false promises in their own inimitable style ...

Be quite a good show if he put a rope around his neck and jumped off the top of the Gallowgate stand.

After all, it was where the villains went to the gallows in days gone by.

And none of them were as guilty of anything as he is.

I don't want him to promise anything ever again, it really frightens me when he starts promising things.

Lets hope so but I think we are incapable of coping with Arsenal in their current form.

Pfff, it's just words. If Pardew had played a game as well as he'd talked one up, we'd be a top 4 team. Now that we're safe, the only thing I would truly like to see is Pardew being kicked out. I think a drubbing from Arsenal on the final day of the season would constitute a suitable ending to a dire campaign, and further convince the board that he's not the one to take us forward.

Maybe if he promised to sell all our players and get us relegated then we could actually look forward to being a top half team.

Is he going to use the Arsenal players to put on this "show"?
