Along with his coaching staff. Brighton are saying it something to do with disagreements over transfer budgets. What it really means is that they've got wind that he's talking to Everton and they know they are powerless to stop him and they are playing the only card they have in the hope that they land a hefty compensation fee.
I honestly thought it was Martinez for the job, but it does feel like Poyet could be heading there now.
Gus Poyet is so overrated it's untrue. can someone tell me what he has done? if this is true then it's a bad move for Everton.
How about Martinez to Everton, Poyet to Wigan, there may even be another manager on the brink and a club is just waiting for the last game to give him the chop (pardew anyone)
Lots of unrest at Stoke as well? Redknapp was interviewed on a program yesterday and said there were mutterings on the management jungle drums of further changes in the EPL hierarchies still to come. It isn't PDC.
Wouldnt be surprised if Pulis chose to walk away from Stoke. If he goes now he can go with his head held high but if he stays I think his head will be on the block before Christmas. Whoever goes in at Stoke has a very difficult task as they are so ingrained in their ways anyone too radical could cone unstuck. Martin Jol is another who I dont think will be sitting too comfortably. If they lose their last game and badly I reckon Al Fayed will show him the door. Then there is Alan Pardew, will Ashley pull the trigger or will Alan get a stay of execution at Noocarsel?
FA Cup Winners/European Competition must have a better chance of promotion than Brighton next year with the parachute payments, so have a better chance with the FFP in the championship. Yes its little old wigan, compared to other PL clubs. but they will be quite big down there and have lots of cash to spend. They also play football the way he likes it to be played already. Its probably the perfect "step up" for Poyet.
I don't see Wigan as a step up at all, he has been building something at Brighton and putting his own stamp on them. They will be one of the favourites to come up next season. To throw all thaty away to go and manage a club that has been relegated, would be a bad move, imo. Look how the teams that come down last season done with the parachute payments.....
Wolves and Blackburn were just badly managed from top to bottom (especially the top end) I cant see DW doing that, and Bolton did OK ish. It may not happen but i cant see it being beyond the realms of posibility, Brighton are a pretty small club as well its not like Forest to Wigan its Brighton to Wigan both teams of similar stature but Wigan have Europe and a lot more cash.
