This one really is ridiculous(courtesy of brb)...

A Yeovil Town fan told to pay more than £1,500 to take a banner into Wembley on Sunday has slammed the fee as “modern football gone mad”.

Having already caught the eye of the television cameras during the npower League One play-off semi-finals, Dan Cabell had hoped to display his ‘Little Old Yeovil…’ banner before kick off between the Glovers and Brentford.

However, after approaching both the national stadium and the Football League for permission, the digital printer of Milborne Port was informed, that because of its size, he would have to stump up a four-figure sum.

Because the banner – a light-hearted dig at Yeovil’s reputation as a small club – would be passed over supporters’ heads an event organisation company would need to supervise its movement. As a result, Wembley Stadium charge £1,250 plus VAT to cover the contractor’s bill, as well as the cost of a parking space.

    Disgusting.

Our game has been surreptiously infiltrated by ****s and greedy conmen.

Don't expect the journos or the pundits to take up the cudgels - they're on the gravy train and don't want to be lobbed off it to join us plebs.

Why would you even ask for permission? You'd just take it.

    Silly bugger.

Make it on A4 or the inside part of a cereal box.

Those DIY efforts make me laugh.

i always remember - hopefully correctly , a banner or placard held aloft during Iranian demonstations in Tehran against the Ayatollah in the early 80s proclaiming something like

    "Arsenal for the cup"

I remember this but am i remembering a fake or spoof ?

I'd take a banner calling for charges for banner supervisors to be banned as well as wearing a banana suit playing a banjo.
    Headline.
"Banana suit wearing banjo player calls for banner charges to be banned"

Without telling them first I'd take one supporting the team and offering to supervise future banners for £1,400. Either the banner would just happen without them realising or I'd get asked to take over the job for future games and I'd make a fortune. <ok>
