How much money is now available for wages now that Dawson - McKenna - Olifinjana - Simpson alone are being released ? I would suggest that it would cover Rhodes and Austin for example ?
That story's out of date, he got another and his contract runs out next summer. I don't think there's any surprises at all with the released players, I never expected in a million years we'd keep any of the released players(we've been trying them for a year or two with no interest at all), I'm just glad to see Rosie got another deal.
Good news about Rosie and Macca. Shame for Simpson, he has worked really hard and shown some excellent play this season - however, it is probably in everybody's interests, Simmo gets some game time and we free up room for new striker(s). We will probably end up playing 1 striker, so Fryatt, Proschwitz, Mclean and Simpson would have been far too much to keep when you are looking at bringing in one or two quality strikers too.
Olofinjana was supposed to be on around £22.5k with Simpson on £11k. Would hazard a guess at £6k-8k for each of Dawson and McKenna.
I would think that Dawson and Mckenna would be on more than that especially Dawson. Austin is on little more than Simpson was according to the Burnley match reporter who was on Sportstalk the other day.
Surprised we've given Oxley a new deal, he's 22 and only has 10 minutes first team football with us, hopefully we'll sort him a year long loan out where we can see how he progresses when he actually plays games. Pleased for Rosie because I wasn't sure he'd get a new deal. Shame Simpson has to leave but he's not been good enough in front of goal, even though he's made plenty of positive contributions to good performances.
I'm not quite sure on 60k. Wasn't OJ quoted as 16k? I'd imagine Oli on approx 22k, McKenna on 8k. That leaves a big gap when the others are small earners. Anyway as soon as we sign Elmo and a keeper I imagine 2 thirds minimum of that 60k has been spent. I'm more surprised we are offering Oxley a new deal. With the Jak already here that's the 2 back up keepers sorted so we'll only be signing 1.
I've just been told by someone else, that the Brazilian is Welliton, which seems bizarre when he's just started the season on loan in Brazil.
I'd give my right nut to get Welliton. if £60k is correct that's £3million a year roughly (correct me if I'm wrong)
Can't argue with the list personally. Rosie and Macca are both good deals, And no point having the likes of Oli, Mckenna etc on the books. Can't really understand why people aren't happy about Simmo, He struggled in the championship and I can't see him being succesful in the PL
Mclean will be on his way out too he is no where near good enough for the top flight despite what Tickle thinks, they will get some money off somebody for him
Amazing goal scoring record! And surely if he's gone out on loan he'd be more likely to sign for us as it indicates his parent club don't want him! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welliton
But he's only just gone on loan, the season's just started in Brazil, I'm not sure how he'd be available.
