Morning all. Today's lucky 15. York,1-45= Judge N' Jury. York,2-15=Starscope (Nap) York,2-45=Ghurair. York,3-15=Navajo Chief. Starscope & Ghurair double. Good luck to all.
A lot of horses were sold out of Seven Barrows at yesterdays DBS sale I see and amazingly people bought them (Donald McCain paid 42,000gns for Tour D’argent and Highflyer 34,000gns for Master of the Hall amongst others). Crazy, as how can you improve on perfection and other trainers have no chance of bettering what Mr Henderson has achieved! That horse Oddy likes of Mr Ponsonby’s Tiller Belle was bought back by the vendor (but disolved the previous partnership) for 10,000gns so I’m guessing the old girl will remain in the Ponsonby/Mr Henderson axis.
I too like the look of Cubanita, will handle the ground and will stay the 10f, quite a few in that race will struggle with either.
If anyone fancies a quick read of something non-horsey, I found the article below very articulately written, despite the uncomfortable subject matter: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-22528846
Who was it who was talking about the Indian/cowboys theme yesterday? We have a few today... Indian Chief 2.45 york Indian Castle 2.25 perth navajo chief 3.15 york In other news, the sun is shining here in York today so the ground should be getting better.
8.45 Ludlow - the Sherwood horse is Lemony Bay (10/3) and Henderson's horse My Wigwam Or Yours (5/6) Lemony Bay would have to be a right good 'un to give the Henderson horse 7lbs though
Magical Macey in the first at York must have a squeak at 12/1-- has won first time out last two years, won't mind which way the ground goes, and the yard in decent form--low drawn to boot. Over at salisbury Rock Up returns to the scene of his best run last term, on the same ground, with Dane o'neil doing the steering, must have a great chance of frame at least, 12/1 morning odds-- shall be doing singles and e/w double. good luck all-- ( love the indian theme)
just had a look at the televised races at York so far. Jamaican Bolt is an obvious favourite in the first but given how Ryan Moore is riding right now I will also be having an each way bet on Dungannon Cubanita appeals as a progressive horse in the 2.15 the Dante looks weaker than usual due to the absence of Telescope. The O'Brien horse should win but if not then Fallon will probably get closest on Greatwood. Ryan Moore has a great booking in the 3.15 on Fort Bastian.
Afternoon chaps Telly picks for me are Jamaican Bolt Dalkala Fort BastionI'm relying on the O'Brien horse in the Dante at 3-1, but have a sneaky feeling that Secret Number could run a very good race, and at 8-1 in an 8 runner race was worth an ew punt. Has anyone done the "Western Yankee" of Indian Chief, Navajo Chief, Indian Castle and My Wigwam Or Yours? You just KNOW it will come in!
No one better than Tim Easterby at getting one ready for York and in the 1.45 today he saddles the bottom-weight Last Bid, who runs off a mark of 84. This dual C&D winner reserves her best for the Knavesmire, including when a length second to My Propellor in a Listed Nursery over C&D in August 2011 off a mark of 87. She was put up a draconian 11lbs for that and has been trying to get down to a decent mark again ever since, running some creditable races last season from marks in the low 90s without ever really threatening to win. She had a nice pipe-opener at Beverley a month ago where she was allowed to come home in her own time, dropping to today's mark of 84 in the process. She has a middle draw which shouldn't be a problem and at 33/1 I think she looks a tremendous e/w prospect.
Jamaican Bolt a NR? Not showing on Oddschecker but still on the card with ATR EDIT: Confirmed as a NR in which case Reebok's Roubles are switched to Cheworee
Songbird duly bolts up in the 1.30 at Salisbury at 6/1 I tipped that up on yesterdays daily thread....an unraced 4-y-o filly remaining in training with Henry Cecil was very persuasive. I forgot to back it though. I couldn't get a price last evening and have been busy all morning
Afternoon all had a great day at York yesterday - 3 winners but still fuming I left Mass Rally I usually back him EVERY time Wish I was there again today but never mind DALKALA is today's nap - good luck
Goldream looked a bit unlucky in the first. Never run in a 5f race before 6, 7 and 8f on just about every type of surface. Had the jockey not run up the back of horses he might have won. Might be worth backing next time Fallon is on him.
